One of the most popular games to hit the market in 2019, The Outer Worlds, will be getting a DLC in the coming year, Obsidian has confirmed. In a forum post thanking their fans for the support they've shown both the game and the team, they added that "the journey isn't over yet" and that more details would be available at a later date.

Outer Worlds, launched at the end of October this year, did not win any awards at the Game Awards, but it was nominated in four categories: Game of the Year, Best Narrative, Best Performance (for Ashly Burch, who voices Parvati Holcomb, one of the Companions available in the game), and Best RPG. In all fairness, the competition was quite stiff: the Game of the Year award went to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twiceboth Best Narrative and Best RPG went to fan-favorite indie game Disco Elysium, and Mads Mikkelsen's part in Death Stranding got Best Performance. Still, the developers thanked their community for voting and overall support, and dropped the above bomb.

"To all of those who voted for us in The Game Awards, you are all fantastic and we are so grateful for your support. The reception to The Outer Worlds has been unbelievable to see, and even just being nominated means a lot," wrote Obsidian social media manager Shyla in a forum post, adding, "However, the journey isn't over yet as we are excited to announce that we will be expanding the story through DLC next year! Details will be made available at a later date." Fans immediately latched onto this piece of news, but the developers remained tight-lipped, no matter how much fans attempted to sweet-talk them.

Although the game had a smooth release and relatively few bugs, it was still not bug-free (and at some point, having a bug-free game might mean jinxing it). Its biggest issue was the tiny text size in the game, so players couldn't read anything it said - similar to many other games. Obsidian, unlike many other developers, actually took to heart players' complaints and released the 1.1 patch about a month ago, fixing this problem, as well as a number of other small issues.

So if you have already beaten the game, maybe don't uninstall it just yet, especially if you liked it - there will be more to love soon. And if you haven't, you can rush through the main storyline - without any side quests - in around 24 hours, which increases to some 45 hours should you choose to do everything else as well (and you should!). If you can bear getting up from the computer every once in a while, you may even stretch that long enough to not quit before the DLC is out.
