Octopath Traveler 2 has it all - eight gripping character-centric stories, a bunch of optional dungeons and superbosses, hidden classes and abilities to level the playing field against them... heck, Partitio alone is worth the ticket price. But among the game's more obscure features is the Black Market, a spot to snag some great items. If you know where and when to look.

Suffice it to say, we do, so we're imparting that knowledge to you, dear readers. Empty your coffers at the secret and spiffy Black Market, an exclusive shopping ring of worthwhile goods from all across Solistia.

Where To Find The Black Market

Octopath Traveler 2 the Black Market

The Black Market can be found along the New Delsta Flats, a route on the eastern continent with a Danger Level of 5. This is low enough that most players won't chance upon the area until they're of a comfortable enough strength to readily trounce the local monsters. Due east is the Abandoned Village, which won't have any significance until fairly late into a particular character's story.

Many players will likely discover the New Delsta Flats by heading north out of New Delsta and exploring the routes along the way. It's also a bit east from a nearby Anchorage. Regardless of how you reach the New Delta Flats, that's only the first part of the equation for finding the Black Market itself.

As you wind your way through the New Delsta Flats, you'll come upon a section with arch-like ruins and a ladder, as seen above. Importantly, you may very well not see those vendor NPCs and tables when you get here. If you arrive during the daytime, you'll likely find a lone NPC. Feel free to chat him up, rob him for all he's worth - you know, the usual. You've reached the right place, though!

A Nightly Affair

Black Market At Night Ochette

In order to access any of the Black Market's shops, you must switch from daytime to nighttime. Octopath Traveler 2 makes this as easy as a single button press, of course, so go ahead and press that button. What's especially interesting about the Black Market, however, is that the vendor(s) present each night are randomly determined out of a pool of six total NPCs.

Since Octopath Traveler 2 lacks a days-of-the-week system, we reckon the developers figured this was the keenest approach. It can be a tad irritating swapping between nights a bunch of times until you get the vendor you want, but it's nothing too drab.

The vendors at the Black Market will sell arms and armor, various ingredients, Soulstones, and more. Let's take a look.

Black Market Vendors

We didn't pick Partitio for this picture on a whim. To save a lot of cash, be sure to have him hire somebody with a shop price reduction skill.

The bottle vendor at the Black Market sells one of each type - Poison Dust, Blinding Dust, Befuddling Dust, Sleeping Dust, and Nightmares. These are great for apothecaries to put some real dent in tougher enemies' defenses. The Soulstone vendor sells the Small and Medium versions of each; no Large ones, alas, at least not from what we've found.

The weaponry vendor carries one weapon of each type, the strongest of which being the Flail with +124 Physical Attack for 22,000 leaves. The armor vendor sells some great stuff like the Elemental Robe and Horned Helm. These equips we're listing aren't exactly endgame fare, but they're all quite helpful for early-to-mid-game adventurers.

There's even a seller of Herb Elixirs, Pomegranate Leaves, and similar content; the most noteworthy of which is surely the Herb-of-Grace Bud. Buy three of these to unlock another Apothecary license!
