Quick Links
Octopath Traveler 2 is a game with no shortage of content. And while the word 'content' can drum up some negative connotations these days, this game's side quests are thankfully pretty fun. We're tackling each of Octopath Traveler 2's eight regions with their own dedicated guides on every side story you'll come across.
This guide's for the Leaflands, of course. Between scenic forests teeming with wildlife and a broadly cozy atmosphere, the Leaflands are a relaxing region radiant with some of the best songs on the soundtrack. The side quests here range from similarly calm to utterly dramatic, and the rewards are generally worth the commotion.
Crop Revival
Client |
Weaver |
---|---|
Location |
Cropdale |
Reward |
3,000 Leaves, Invigorating Nut, Inspiriting Plum (M) |
This first one's short and simple. You'll find the client, a Weaver, right by Cropdale's save point at the southeast corner of town. Speak with him, and he'll seek to revive the weaving craft. So begins the tale!
You'll find the NPC you need to speak with just north of Cropdale on the Forest Trail. His name (well, his 'name') is Elderly Woman's Son. You'll need to learn the necessary information via a Path Action such as Inquire or Scrutinize. This will notify you of the location of a hidden item.
The hidden item can be found by taking the canoe to the right of the Elderly Woman's Son up to the house just north of the dock. Inside the house is the Crop Tapestry Pattern, which we'll give to the Weaver to finish this quest.
The Soused Nobleman
Client |
Tavern Assistant |
---|---|
Location |
Cropdale |
Reward |
4,000 Leaves, Prosperity Charm |
So, there's this guy at the tavern... we all know the sort. He's loud, abrasive, and altogether unpleasant to be around. When you enter the tavern in Cropdale, he'll periodically banter on his own; speak with the Tavern Assistant to actually begin the quest.
It's our pleasure to report that the only thing you need to do with this guy is knock him out cold. You can do this via Hikari's 'Challenge' Path Action or Throne's 'Ambush' Path Action. He'll apologize when he comes around, and the quest wraps up all tidy-like.
Useless Fruit
Client |
Considerate Youth |
---|---|
Location |
Wellgrove |
Reward |
6,000 Leaves, Beastly Scarf |
The Considerate Youth we need to speak with to trigger this side story can be found in Wellgrove, as seen in the above image. Once he's finished pondering over the stinky substance, fast travel to Cropdale and Inquire/Scrutinize the Knowledgeable Villager who is located to the left of the stone bridge at the north of town.
You'll glean the 'Well Iris Uses' key information, which you'll bring back with you to the Considerate Youth in Wellgrove.
The Beastly Scarf you're rewarded restores HP after every action. It's good!
Through A Child's Eyes
Client |
Brooding Girl |
---|---|
Location |
Wellgrove |
Reward |
5,000 Leaves, Charm of Compassion |
Locate the Brooding Girl in Wellgrove, whose childhood plight is all too relatable for some players. As you might predict, we'll need to guide both the girl's mother and father over to her. To do so, tap into follow-compelling Path Actions such as Temenos' aptly named Guide and Agnea's Allure.
The mom's near the town's forefront while the older gentleman who's become the girl's adoptive dad stands alone up near the northern end. Bring them with you, head back to the client, and the quest will end with a much-needed heart-to-heart.
Mira And The Elderly Guard's Next Chapter
Client |
Elderly Guard |
---|---|
Location |
Wellgrove |
Reward |
9,000 Leaves, Vengeful Knife |
Octopath Traveler 2 hits the heartstrings hard sometimes - this one's a prime example. Note that you'll be unable to begin 'Mira and the Elderly Guard's Next Chapter' until after you have finished Throne's entire storyline.
With that sizable prerequisite out of the way, hike on over to Wellgrove, where you'll find the Garden's groundskeeper (the 'Elderly Guard' client) from Throne's 'Mother Route' standing near the entrance to town. He's looking for Mira.
This one had us flummoxed for a while, we won't deny it. The trick is to use a Path Action to compel the Elderly Guard to follow you, then bring him to the Deserted Highroad where the fellow with his likeness - the gondola operator - resides. They'll chat, revealing more of Octopath's hidden lore along the way. Once the gondola operator brings you across the ravine, head straight into Lostseed. The guard's got it from here.
Misha's Next Chapter
Client |
Misha |
---|---|
Location |
Wellgrove |
Reward |
15,000 Leaves, Butler's Tailcoat |
Surprisingly, Wellgrove is home to not one but two of Octopath Traveler 2's 'Next Chapter' side stories. Like the one with Mira and the Garden's groundskeeper, Misha's requires a character to have completed their story; in this case, Partitio's tale must be finished first.
Head on over to Alrond's Manse in Wellgrove and speak with Misha. When you're finished, set it to nighttime if it isn't already dark outside, and find the Strolling Townsperson standing due west of the shopping warehouse at the north end of the town's southern screen.
Use the 'Bribe' Path Action to glean the 'Man in a Brown Coat' information. Now, switch to daytime, and Inquire/Scrutinize the Eager Townsperson standing in front of the shopping warehouse to glean 'Garbage Collector'. Bring both bits of information back to Misha during the daytime and watch the fun scenes that unfold.
A Forced Hand
Client |
Tiffany (or Margello) |
---|---|
Location |
Timberain (or Montwise) |
Reward |
15,000 Leaves, Mental Belt |
You won't be able to reach the bustling town of Timberain for quite some time in your Octopath Traveler 2 playthrough, but when you do, you can be sure there'll be a few side stories in store for you. The first is 'A Forced Hand', and you'll need to be able to access Montwise in order to complete it. This shouldn't be too tall an ask; the areas around Montwise are far lower in danger level, so you've almost surely been there by now.
Find Tiffany overlooking a staircase as seen in the image above. She'll complain over her parents fixing her with an arranged marriage - reasonable. Her fears over what her beau-to-be may be like can be alleviated by bringing Margello, who is in the Montwise Library, to her via Path Actions.
You can technically do this quest in reverse by initiating it via Margello himself at Montwise Library. It may also be possible to simply use Inquire on Margello's aide to glean information about him, then bring that to Tiffany instead, though we've yet to confirm this ourselves.
Proof Of Innocence
Client |
Meylan |
---|---|
Location |
Timberain |
Reward |
11,000 Leaves, Nourishing Nut (L) |
This is the first in a trilogy of courtroom drama side quests. Your client will be Meylan, who stands guard outside the courthouse; first, however, you'll need to step inside and linger around while a scene plays out in which a man is deemed guilty. You'll know you've seen it all when the dialogue starts to loop.
Step outside afterward and speak with Meylan, who expresses his concern for the situation. We need to find the Sickly Woman; she's standing at the center of one of the city's stone arches. Use a Path Action to guide her to Meylan; after he says his piece again, a scene will trigger with some cryptic consequences, but for now your job is done!
Proof Of Guilt
Client |
Meylan |
---|---|
Location |
Timberain |
Reward |
12,000 Leaves, Critical Nut (L) |
For the next leg of this three-story journey, Meylan is again the client, and you'll again need to watch a courtroom scene unfold to get things going. Once Meylan's said his part again - you may need to switch to nighttime for this to occur - find the Remorseful Old Man during the daytime near the tavern and use Inquire/Scrutinize to reveal the location of a hidden item.
The hidden item, Azure Sun Sword, is situated inside Timberain's inn. You'll know it the same way you know any hidden item, by its telltale blue glow that sticks out like a sore... well, like a sore blue glow. Grab it, and deliver to Meylan to conclude the quest.
Proof Of Justice
Client |
Spectator |
---|---|
Location |
Timberain |
Reward |
30,000 Leaves, Fortifying Nut (L), Magic Nut (L) |
To quote an overused phrase, the turns have tabled - Timberain's courthouse questline ends with a twist. To initiate 'Proof of Justice', head inside the courtroom one more time; Meylan's on trial! Speak with the NPC labeled Spectator here, who is your client. He's convinced of Meylan's innocence.
We'll do a bit more legwork for this last one. Exit to Southern Timberain Trail. Follow the road southbound until it tilts eastward and leads to a dock. Launch a canoe from here out on to the river, cross over to the other side, and you'll find the murder weapon, Stolen Sword, right here:
Hmm, curious. Fast travel back to Timberain (or hike it if you're feeling like a real go-getter today) and return to the court. Show the Spectator the Stolen Sword. That's the first half down, but there's more to go. Go to New Delsta: Backstreets and find the Dour Elderly Woman midway up the northern alleyway. Inquire or Scrutinize her to glean 'A Killer's Motive'.
Take this to the Spectator as well. Unable to ignore his conscience, he'll present your evidence (for whatever reason, this guy's become our go-between) and this tragic tale comes to an end - with some very sweet treasure for us.
