Octopath Traveler follows eight adventurers on separate journeys, all of which eventually convene to complete the overall quest of saving the land of Orsterra from the fallen god Galdera.
It's rare that a JRPG goes into this much detail on the lives and journeys of each individual party member. Each one gets a story that unveils their origin and gives context to their personality, before they ultimately wind up with the larger group. Let's delve into each of these characters to give you a little more info on the specific details of each one.
8 Ophilia
Ophilia Clement is the soft-spoken and gentle cleric of the group, and she's one of the youngest members at only 20 years old. There are no birthdays given for any of the characters, and it's unknown if Orsterra even follows the same 12-month calendar that we follow in the real world.
There's also no specific height metric given for any of the characters, but when we take a look at key art, we can compare them side by side. This reveals that Ophilia is the second shortest in the group.
7 H'aanit
H'aanit is the stoic and determined hunter of the group. She's very in touch with nature via her small clan's spirituality, and she also happens to be one of the only two members of the group with no known surname.
She's 26 years old, which makes her the oldest woman of the group, and the third oldest character overall. She's also the tallest woman of the party, and the fourth tallest overall. Her age and height definitely reflect her confidence, prowess, and general wisdom over many of the younger party members.
6 Therion
Therion is the sneaky and silent thief of the group. He definitely is the type who would prefer to work alone, and is usually hesitant to get involved with the group in any capacity. However, he proves extremely useful once he's surrounded by others.
He's 22 years old, which makes him the second youngest guy of the group and the fifth youngest overall. He's also the shortest man in the group, and the third shortest overall. His age shows that he's a thief with some experience, whereas his diminutive height shows his ability to squeeze into any place he pleases.
5 Primrose
Primrose Azelhart is like a wolf in sheep's clothing. Her suave and slender appearance is merely a mask for the hatred and thirst for the fight she harbors inside.
At 23 years old she's the second oldest woman, and she also happens to be the second tallest woman. In both metrics she's only surpassed by H'aanit. When it comes to the overall group, she's the fourth oldest and the fifth tallest.
4 Cyrus
Cyrus Albright is the definition of book smart, not street smart. He's a mage and a scholar with a lot of knowledge of the world, but he has an issue with not thinking clearly under pressure.
While he's the second oldest in the group at 30 years old, he's only the third tallest, trailing behind his much younger teammate Alfyn. This may reflect Cyrus' many years of studying the craft, versus a degree of actual life experience that he sorely lacks.
3 Tressa
Tressa Colzione is a jack of all trades, and trade just happens to be her trade. In contrast to Cyrus she's the baby of the group, but is outgoing and wise beyond her years.
She's both the youngest and shortest of all eight party members. At only 18 years old, she makes up for a lack of years with her tenacity and ability to adapt to any situation, and also to the many different builds she can possibly have within the game.
2 Alfyn
Alfyn Greengrass is the apothecary with a big heart, and a lot of naivete when it comes to her approach to the world. Interestingly enough, with most of Octopath Traveler's character lineup, the age and height tend to be somewhat in line with each other. The older characters are taller, and the younger characters are shorter.
Alfyn is the one exception to this, being the youngest guy in the group at 21 years old, but the second tallest. He's only surpassed in height by Olberic. This may reflect the contrast between his potential, and his lack of experience.
1 Olberic
Olberic Eisenberg is the grisled and scorned knight, desperately searching for a purpose and for something to protect. His large presence and tenure as a knight reflect in both his age and his height, as he is both the tallest and the oldest of the group.
His exact age of 35 years may not seem like someone "aged and battle-hardened", but as a knight, they probably don't get much older than 35.
