There are eleven gadgets Abe can use in Oddworld Soulstorm. Abe will unlock these gadgets as he continues through the game and will unlock every item by the end. Abe can therefore return to earlier episodes with his newfound tools to get a better Quarma score.

This guide will discuss every gadget in Oddworld Soulstorm and how you can unlock it. Furthermore, we will go into the best use cases for each item. Some tools are helpful on many levels, and some are one-time uses. Either way, you need to craft these items. So, you should be familiar with the crafting system and collecting resources.

The Antidote

Antidote in Oddworld Soulstorm

The Antidote first appears in the Funicular stage (Level 4). Once you craft the Antidote, you will never need to make it again and can use the Antidote to revive sick Mudokons for the rest of the game.

You cannot miss this gadget, and you will not need to worry about it later in the game. It is very much a one-and-done item and does not help Abe outside of saving Mudokons.

IED Stun Mine

IED Stun Mine in Oddworld Soulstorm

You will unlock the IED Stun Mine in the Ruins (Level 2). Crafting an IED Stun Mine requires a battery, wiring kit, and tin can. But you can also find these mines in lootable objects like lockers.

When an enemy trips a mine, the explosion will knock them unconscious. These mines are a perfect tool to use if you know where a Slig is going. For instance, whenever you have to defend Mudokons climbing to safety, you can place these mines at Slig spawn points to knock them unconscious.

Smoke Screen

You will unlock the Smoke Screen gadget in the Phat Station stage (Level 6). The crafting materials you need to make a Smoke Screen are brew bottles and detergent. You can also find these Smoke Screens in loot crates.

Throwing down a Smoke Screen will make a temporary cloud of smoke that Abe and his Mudokon followers can use to hide. It is the perfect gadget for sneaking by any enemy.

Brewnade

You will unlock the Brewnade in The Mines (Level 11). Their crafting recipe calls for a brew bottle, lighter, anti-viral wipes. These can also pop up in loot containers.

You can toss a Brewnade to burn down a wooden structure or set a few Sligs on fire. Think of them as an odd molotov cocktail.

Bouncy Candy

You will unlock Bouncy Candy in The Hijack (Level 7) and can craft it with rock candy and rubber bands.

Bouncy Candies will knock back enemies and then knock them out in one hit. Plus, it can bounce off walls, ceilings, and floors multiple times. There are an infinite amount of use cases for Bouncy Candy, and you will use them on almost every level.

Fizzy Pow

You will unlock Fizzy Pows on the Slig Barracks stage (Level 9). You can make Fizzy Pows by combining a fizzy pop and a blastos.

Fizzy Pows will instantly knock out a Slig and do a considerable amount of damage. So, if a Slig has max health, a Fizzy Pow is non-lethal. But, if you hit them again, they will die. Fizzy Pows can also destroy scaffolding structures.

Bouncy Binding Candy

You will unlock the Bouncy Binding Candy with the regular Bouncy Candy (Level 7). You can craft them with Bouncy Candy, tape, and epoxy.

Bouncy Binding Candy functions like regular Bouncy Candy but has the added benefit of instantly tieing up a Slig when it hits them.

IED Super Stun Mine

IED Super Stun Mine in Oddworld Soulstorm

The IED Super Stun Mine is the upgraded version of the IED Stun Mine. You can make it by combining an IED Stun Mine and an amplifier.

These are very difficult to craft because amplifiers are very rare. If you do manage to make one, they can create a massive explosion that can knock out multiple enemies at once.

Sticky Fizzy Pow

Sticky Fizzy Pow in Oddworld Soulstorm

The Sticky Fizzy Pow is the upgraded version of the regular Fizzy Pow. You can craft these Fizzy Pows with a Fizzy Pow and gum.

Sticky Fizzy Pows function the same as regular Fizzy Pows but have the added benefit of sticking to enemies and surfaces. This sticky ability makes these Fizzy Pows great for solving puzzles.

Flamethrower

The Flamethrower is the last gadget that unlocks in Oddworld Soulstorm.

To craft a Flamethrower, you will need a Fire Extinguisher, lighter, brew bottle, battery, wiring kit, and steel hose.

Flamethrowers are self-explanatory, but essentially, they let Abe light wood and enemies on fire. The Flamethrower is a powerful gadget and can deal a lot of damage. Just don't let the flames get out of control.

It will automatically recharge after you deplete its tank.

Smoke Screen Plus

The Smoke Screen Plus is the upgraded version of the regular Smoke Screen gadget and is the last craftable gadget in this guide. You can make a Smoke Screen Plus by combining a Smoke Screen with Bone Powder.

There are a couple of benefits for using the Smoke Screen Plus over the regular Smoke Screen. The first is that it lasts a lot longer and gives more coverage. The second benefit is that it will stun enemies in the cloud.

Water Bottle

You cannot craft Water Bottles, but you can find them in various loot crates. Tossing Water Bottles at fires will extinguish them.

Brew Bottle

You can find Brew Bottle in various loot containers or vending machines, and you cannot craft them. Tossing a Brew Bottle will leave an oil patch, which is flammable. You can use this flammable liquid to spread a fire.

Tape

Tape in Oddworld Soulstorm

You can buy tape at a vending machine or find them in loot containers. Tape can tie up unconscious enemies.

Rock Candy

Rock Candy is a common gadget in the game. You can buy Rock Candies at vending machines and find them in loot containers.

You can toss Rock Candies at enemies to distract an enemy. If you hit an enemy with several Rock Candies, you will knock them out. Rock Candies will also bounce once off of flat surfaces.

Fire Extinguisher

You can buy Fire Extinguishers on certain levels of Oddworld Soulstorm. They are the opposite of a Flamethrower and a great tool for containing fires.

You will use a fire extinguisher for the first time on The Hijack stage (Level 7). It will automatically recharge after you deplete its tank.

Flare

Flares are in loot containers in certain sections of the game. Mostly in dark caves. You cannot craft or buy flares. They will illuminate dark areas and scare away Sleeches (Level 12 enemy).

Hand Torch

The Hand Torch only appears in The Sanctum (Level 12). It appears in Abe's inventory automatically and is a unique gameplay element for this portion of the game.

It will provide light and repel Sleeches. You cannot use it indefinitely and will need to recharge it from time to time.
