The latest popular video game franchise to receive its own cookbook is Overwatch, which will be filled with recipes based on the various characters from the game.
Overwatch: The Official Cookbook features recipes inspired by the characters from Overwatch, which include a Radioactive Lime Soda Float (based on Roadhog), Biscochitos (based on McCree), Til Ko Laddu Sesame Sweets (based on Zenyatta), Orisa Sundae (based on Orisa), and Valkryie's Flight (based on Mercy).
The author of Overwatch: The Official Cookbook is Chelsea Monroe-Cassel, who has written several cookbooks based on movie and video game franchises. Monroe-Cassel's bibliography includes the likes of The Elder Scrolls: The Official Cookbook, World of Warcraft: The Official Cookbook, Game Of Thrones: A Feast of Ice and Fire - The Official Companion Cookbook, The Shire Cookbook, Hearthstone: Innkeeper's Tavern Cookbook, and Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge Cookbook.
Overwatch: The Official Cookbook isn't the only video game franchise to receive its own cookbook, as Amazon also provides copies of Fallout: The Vault Dweller's Official Cookbook, The Minecrafter's Cookbook, Banquet of the Wild (based on the food from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild), and The Pokémon Cookbook: Easy & Fun Recipes. It seems that there is a huge market for cookbooks that are tangentially connected to video game franchises.
The state of Overwatch has been in flux over the past year, with Fortnite slowly stealing its audience, which is due (in part) to the slow release schedule of updates for the game. There are rumors that Blizzard is working on a sequel for Overwatch that might help the game to win back the audience it has lost between Apex Legends and Fortnite, though there have yet to be any official announcements made. Overwatch still has a dedicated fanbase who are loyal to the game and engage in every new event that takes place, as well as following the story of the game as it's told over various forms of media. It's these dedicated fans that are the target audience for this specialist cookbook.
