Pokémon Day is only a week away and rumors have been spreading about plans for a huge announcement that will be made on that day, most likely that of the next generation of Pokémon games for the Nintendo Switch.
Pokémon Day is the name given to February 27, which is the anniversary of the date when Pokémon Red & Green were released in Japan.
The Official Pokémon YouTube Channel has been uploading videos in such a way as to suggest that a big announcement will be happening on the channel on Pokémon Day.
On February 20, The Official Pokémon YouTube Channel uploaded a video called "Explore Pokémon: Kanto Region", which detailed the Kanto region alongside images from the Pokémon anime. On February 21st, the channel released "Explore Pokémon: Johto Region", which did the same thing for the Johto region. The channel uploaded "Explore Pokémon: Hoenn Region" today, which suggests that a new region video will be uploaded each day.
If the trend of the video releases continues, then there will be a Sinnoh video on February 23, an Unova video on February 24, a Kalos video on February 25, and an Alola video on February 26th.
The timing of these releases suggests that another video will be released on February 27, which will talk about the region of the next Pokémon games and will coincide with the celebrations of Pokémon Day.
It's worth noting that the "Explore Pokémon" videos are listed under the Pokémon Animation playlist on The Official Pokémon YouTube Channel, which suggests that the information about the new region may be limited to a reveal about the next season of the Pokémon anime.
The next generation of Pokémon games still have a tentative release of 2019, even though we know nothing about them other than the fact that they will be appearing on the Nintendo Switch. The absence of the Pokémon games from the recent Nintendo Direct was puzzling to some, but it's likely that The Pokémon Company wanted to save the reveal for Pokémon Day.
The timing of the "Explore Pokémon" videos definitely suggests that something big is going to be announced on February 27.
