These minigames range from handy XP boosting methods, allowing you to gain points to purchase exclusive items, and even giving you a healthy dose of gold. However, with so many minigames to choose from, it can sometimes be difficult to know where to invest your time and effort. Here are our choices.

10 Pyramid Plunder

Pyramid Plunder Runescape

If you're looking for a new way to train Thieving, look no further than Sophanem's Pyramid Plunder. Here, you have five minutes to 'plunder' the pyramid's eight rooms, each requiring a higher thieving level than the last. Each room contains loot such as combs, seals, scarab's, and statuette's which you can exchange with Simon Templeton outside for coins.

Pyramid Plunder gives you a heavy dose of thieving experience along with making a fair bit of money in the process. It also doesn't hurt that if you manage to come across the elusive Pharoah's Sceptre, you could net yourself a healthy 3 million in profit.

9 Mage Arena

Mage Arena Runescape

The Mage Arena is located in the deep Wilderness and sees multiple battle mages gather to battle Kolodion for the right to learn God Spells.

The minigame's main use is to allow you to charge these God Spells for use outside of the arena's walls which are obtainable for the two mini-quests you can start here. These quests are well worth your time completing, giving you access to the three God Spells, Staffs, and Capes, all fantastic for magic-users.

8 Blast Furnace

Blast Furnace Runescape

The Blast Furnace is a smithing minigame located in the Dwarven city of Keldagrim and primarily focuses on smelting bars.

It is by far the quickest smithing experience in the game, requiring half the amount of coal usually needed for bars, making it extremely useful for smithing Mithril, Adaminte, and Rune. However, for those here purely for the experience, when equipping Gold Gauntlets and smithing Gold Bars, players can achieve XP of up to 370k an hour.

7 TzHaar Fight Caves And The Inferno

The TzHaar Fight Caves contain 63 waves, with you needing to defeat TzTok Jad on the final wave in order to obtain the illustrious Fire Cape, considered one of the best capes in the game with great protection and offensive bonuses.

The Inferno, however, is perhaps the hardest solo content in-game, requiring you to complete 69 waves before facing TzKal Zuk, including 3 JalTok-Jad's on wave 68. The few who manage to complete this are awarded the Infernal Cape, with twice the offensive bonuses of the Fire Cape and unrivaled defense bonuses.

6 Mage Training Arena

These points can be used to purchase some of the best farming equipment Old School Runescape has to offer, all of which is untradeable. The Seed Box allows you to keep six types of seed in one inventory slot, and the Herb Sack up to 30 of each grimy herb, both fantastic for Slayer training. Gricoller's Can, allows you to have 1,000 uses of a watering can instead of the usual 8, and the Farmer's Outfit grants a 2.5% boost in Farming XP when worn, both essential for those looking to get their skill cape.

3 Barrows

Barrows Brothers OSRS

Barrows is perhaps Runescape's most popular combat-based minigame, based in eastern-Morytania, and sees you face five of the Barrows Brothers consecutively before gaining access through the sixth's coffin to the tunnels where you can loot the reward chest.

Barrows is a great money-maker, giving you an abundance of high-level runes, and the chance of gaining a piece of Barrow's gear, with 24 pieces to collect. These armor pieces and weapons are among some of the best combat gear for mid-leveled players to obtain, with full-sets able to grant incredible bonuses.

2 Pest Control

Pest Control Runescape

Pest Control is a cooperative combat minigame that requires you to destroy portals whilst defending the Guthix Void Knight from aggressive monsters.

Along with combat experience, players will also gain commendation points when winning a game with point amounts dependent upon their level and the lander they were able to be on. Pest Control is the only way to obtain the non-tradeable Void Knight armor pieces, which gives defense bonuses to all combative stats without lowering attack bonuses making it a popular choice for many high-leveled players.

1 Nightmare Zone

Nightmare Zone with Imbued Slayer Helm and Archers Ring

The Nightmare Zone is the best combat-based minigame Runescape has to offer and is also for the most part AFK. In the Nightmare Zone, players enter their own dreams to take on bosses they've previously defeated within quests. Defeating these bosses one after the other can give you Reward points which you can then spend in a chest by Dominic Onion.

However, the real prize from the Nightmare Zone is the equipment upgrades you can give to your items, being able to imbue certain combat equipment with your points for incredible bonuses. Various rings such as the Archers and Berserker Rings can be imbued for doubled equipment bonuses, along with the Slayer helmet finally being able to give magic and managed attack, defense, and accuracy bonuses when used on Slayer tasks.
