Old School RuneScape continues to welcome players new and old as one of the most popular MMORPGs around. Players spend countless hours increasing their skills, defeating monsters, and playing mini-games all in pursuit of GP to invest in that next big weapon or armor upgrade.

One of the player's best ways to earn some much-needed gold in the game is by defeating various slayer monsters lurking within the game. The slayer skill needs you to go out and kill a certain number of these monsters in order to achieve balance within the region, and depending on your level can give you access to bigger, tougher foes. The best thing about being able to kill higher leveled slayer monsters is that they're by far some of the best money-makers in Gielinor, offering up unique items and large cash drops.

Updated On February 19, 2022, By William Quick: Sometimes to appreciate the new, you have to look back at the old. Old School Runescape still has a lot of challenge to offer and plenty of monsters to hunt for a profit.

15 Blue Dragon

Blue Dragon Runescape

Blue Dragons are often among the first Slayer monsters assigned in Old School Runescape as they have no level requirement. They are found in Taverley Dungeon and are easily accessible by a Level 70 Agility shortcut.

Their profit is completely dependent on your combat level and set-up, as being able to defeat them quickly can allow you to profit heavily off guaranteed drops of Dragon Bones (1,500 GP) and Blue Dragon hide (1,600 GP) along with the occasional Ensouled Dragon Head (4,000 GP).

14 Spiritual Fighters

Spiritual Fighters Wandering Around God Wars Dungeon

Of all the Slayer monsters, Spiritual Fighters are among the most humanoid. They're easily identifiable by their red outfits and their semi-transparent body parts. They cover three classes including Warriors, Rangers, and Mages. If you're looking to hunt them down, you can find them roaming around the God Wars Dungeon.

In terms of Slayer Level, Rangers are the weakest whilst Mages are the strongest. As such, defeating them can yield a few hundred to a few thousand gold, but you'll be aiming loot Warriors for a Rune Halberd (37,808 GP) and Mages for Dragon Boots (169,698 GP).

13 Dark Beast

Dark Beasts In The Mourner Tunnels

These large behemoth-like monsters are located quite high up in the Slayer rankings, but it's worth it to take them on. If you're feeling up to the challenge, you can find them in the Mourner Tunnels or wandering around Iorwerth Dungeon. Despite their beastly appearance, these creatures are able to use both Physical and Magic attacks.

They don't have any immunities and are most vulnerable to Stab and Slash attacks so keep that in mind when fighting them. On defeat, they can drop up to 5,600 GP but what you really want is the super rare Dark Bow (637,287 GP). Dark Beasts are one of the few creatures that drops this bow, the only other being the Night Beast.

12 Wyrm

A Wyrm In Karuulm Slayer Dungeon

As their name suggest, these creatures are long worm-like beasts that can be found only in the Karuulm Slayer Dungeon on the lower levels. Although the Wyrms themselves are quite dangerous on their own, the fact you be fighting them in a volcano means you'll need the proper heat-resistant gear just to stand a chance against them.

By enduring the heat and the Wyrm's attacks, you can come out on top and net up to 5,400 GP, but that's not all. Wyrms are also known to drop the Dragon Sword (68,769 GP) and the Dragon Harpoon (1,115,353 GP). Keep slaying these Wyrms for a chance to be rolling in it though keep in mind that they're the least resistant to Ranged and Stab damage.

11 Dust Devil

Dust Devil Runescape

Dust Devils are among the most lucrative and easiest Slayer Monsters to defeat, being easy to AFK with a good range set-up. You need a Slayer Level of 65 to take them on, as well as completing Desert Treasure for access to the Smoke Dungeon. At higher levels, it's recommended to take them on in the Catacombs of Kourend with a high-level mage set-up, as in multi-combat you can kill multiple at once.

Dust Devils have many notable drops, including Air and Earth Battlestaffs (9,000 GP) and more rarely Mystic Air and Battlestaffs (25,000 GP) and Dragon Daggers (17,500 GP) which are all great for High Alchemy. However, they're also fantastic for common drops of stackable Dust, Earth, Fire, and Chaos Runes.

10 Drake

A Drake In Karuulm Slayer Dungeon

Another member of the Draconic family, these giant wingless dragons can also be found in the Karuulm Slayer Dungeon. Once again, you'll need the proper gear to withstand the heat of the volcano, and it will also have to pull double duty since Drakes are able to use volcanic attacks against you. They may not have magic, but they can hit you at various ranges.

You'll need to rely on Magic attacks to give yourself the best chance of taking down Drakes quickly. However, if you manage to do so, not only can you earn up to 10,250 GP, but you'll also get the chance to loot Torstol Seeds (52,654 GP), Snapdragon Seeds (79,652 GP), and a large quantity of Dragon Knives (578,000 GP).

9 Aberrant Spectre

Abberant Spectre Runescape

A Hydra In Karuulm Slayer Dungeon

Just like the fabled beast of Greek myth, this Draconic Slayer monster is a large reptile with several snake-like heads. Like many of its kin, Hydras can be found in the Volcanic bowels of the Karuulm Slayer Dungeon. Equip yourself with heat-resistant armor and brace yourself for its multitude of attacks as well as its special Poison-based move.

Hydras are one of the most resistant Slayer monsters you'll encounter, lacking protection only against Ranged weapons so be prepared. They can drop up to 12,270 GP on defeat as well as Torstol Seeds, Snapdragon Seeds, Onyx Bolt Tips (159,890 GP), and 1,156,000 GP worth of Dragon Knives.

6 Abyssal Demon

Abbysal Demon Runescape

Abyssal demons are incredibly quick to kill with a great setup and high combat, and are located on the top floor of the Canifis Slayer Tower, having one of the highest Slayer requirements, Level 85.

The 1/500 chance of the Abyssal Whip (2,500,000 GP) seems rare, but with quick kills, you should still see an occasional drop. Luckily while waiting for a whip, Abyssal Demons frequently drop herbs and Blood Runes alongside Rune Chainbodys (30,000 GP) and Rune med helms (11,000 GP).

However, Brutal Blacks have a rare chance of giving you Dragon Platelegs/Skirts (160,000 GP) and are the only Slayer Monster with a lower 1/5000 chance at the Dragonic Visage (2,750,000 GP). Their more common drops include Dragon Dart Tips (100,000 GP), Dragon and Rune Weaponry, Armor, and frequent Blood, Soul, Death, and Law Runes.

4 Kurasks

Kurasks do rarely drop the Leaf Bladed Sword (40,000 GP) and Axe (50,000 GP), but these aren't their main money-maker. They're great for seeds, herbs, Nature Runes, and drops of 10,000 GP.
