For those who got into the whole amiibo craze when it first launched and happened to keep collecting them, we have some good news – your old Metroid figures will work with the newest installment in the franchise, Metroid Dread. Samus Aran's latest adventure launches this Friday. It's good to know that if you already own a few Metroid amiibo you won't have to shell out cash for new ones such as with Skyward Sword HD.

The older figures will include some neat features that can be utilized within Metroid Dread. Your Samus figure can be used to replenish life energy once a day, while Dark Samus and Ridley will refill your ammo once a day. Of course with a new game comes a new double amiibo pack release. The new Samus and EMMI amiibo were available for pre-order this past summer. If you get lucky you might be able to score some on launch day.

On the My Nintendo Store UK, these three figures have been restocked so grab them while you can. Purchases are limited to one per customer. Hopefully, we don't see scalpers snapping them up and re-selling them for ridiculous amounts online such as with the Pokemon-themed Oreo cookies. Interestingly enough the one amiibo not restocked is the Metroid one that has a very different look and feel compared to other figures.

In other Nintendo news, today's last Super Smash Bros. fighter didn't give us another Metroid character – but gave finally gave us Sora from Kingdom Hearts. Either way, the popular fighting game might have some stiff competition on the way in the form of Nickelodeon's All-Star Brawl. It may not feature as many playable characters as Smash, but its roster is filled with some iconic faces from your favorite cartoons.
