One Piece Odyssey is the game that One Piece fans have been waiting for, according to our own Eric Switzer. It brings modern JRPG mechanics with a One Piece twist to produce a compelling original story with deep and complex battle mechanics. And now, Bandai Namco plans to double down on those battles with One Piece Odyssey's upcoming Reunion of Memories DLC.

The new expansion will pick up right where One Piece Odyssey ends. The Straw Hat gang has defeated the island's challenges, got their powers back, and befriended the island's guardian, Lim, who even seems interested in joining Luffy for more ocean-faring adventures. But then a mysterious hooded girl who looks a lot like Lim appears and returns the crew to Memoria.

"The world of memories is not the same anymore and Luffy and his friends will have to find a way back," reads the trailer's description, "but not before they unravel one final hidden mystery."

The story trailer makes it seem like Luffy will now have to take on an alternate history, where past foes are now stronger than ever. In a message from producer Katsuaki Tsuzuki, he explained that Reunion of Memories will include "fan-favorite stories" that center around the theme of "new hidden stories with bonds."

On top of that, the DLC will be "heavily" focused on battles. "The downloadable content’s difficulty level will be based on the recommended level for clearing the main story, and we’ve prepared many battles that demand a more tactical approach, as well as some special winning conditions, so you can expect to find a new kind of challenge."

Reunion of Memories will come out for all platforms One Piece Odyssey is played on. No release date has been announced yet.
