The turn-based JRPG based on the One Piece anime and manga series, One Piece Odyssey, has been a pleasant surprise for longtime fans. Developed by ILCA, who has previously worked on games in the Dragon Quest and Pokemon series, One Piece Odyssey sees the Straw Hat crew get shipwrecked on a mysterious island for a new adventure.

While knowledge of the series isn't necessarily required to play the game, it's a better experience for those familiar with the material. Luckily, there are many games similar to One Piece Odyssey for all kinds of fans.

10 Sea Of Thieves

Sea of Thieves isn't an exclusively multiplayer game, but it's always better to play with other people. You purchase maps to find where treasure is located, navigate to that location with your ship, encounter other players and a few enemies along the way, and collect the treasure to gain rewards.

It's a simple gameplay loop that's more entertaining with a bigger crew, as you can work together to navigate the ship toward its destination. Although Sea of Thieves is a beloved game, there's a lack of variety with certain features, as you can't fully customize your character, and you repeatedly fight the same enemies. But if you don't mind, you'll have a great time.

9 One Piece Treasure Cruise

A mobile gacha RPG featuring nearly every character ever seen in One Piece and multiple alternate versions of them, One Piece Treasure Cruise has you collect characters to build your own crew and experience the story of One Piece from the very beginning with tap-based combat.

Like in other mobile gacha RPGs, characters can be leveled up and evolve to become stronger once the correct requirements have been met. In addition to characters, you can also obtain different ships that change the crew's stats and can be leveled up with cola. There are also raids, crossover characters, and more, with new content released frequently.

8 Dragon Quest Treasures

An action-based entry to the Dragon Quest Monsters spinoff series, Dragon Quest Treasures is a prequel to Dragon Quest 11, but knowledge of either is not required. Dragon Quest Treasures stars younger versions of Dragon Quest 11 party member Erik and his sister Mia as they recruit monsters and seek out buried treasure across the sky islands of Draconia.

Because Dragon Quest Treasures is action-based, Erik and Mia fight enemies with their daggers and slingshot, the latter having various kinds of ammo, while the monsters in their party attack automatically. Dragon Quest Treasures has less content or variety than other Dragon Quest games, but it's great if you prefer playing games in short bursts.

7 Tales Of Berseria

A Tales game that mixes up the formula a bit, Tales of Berseria is a prequel to Tales of Zestiria. Tales of Berseria's protagonist is Velvet Crowe, a young woman with demon-absorbing powers seeking revenge against her brother-in-law for sacrificing her younger brother.

Similar to some of the themes of One Piece, Tales of Berseria questions morality and perceptions of right and wrong, as its antagonist is seen as a savior while Velvet is seen as more of a villain. Like other games in the series, Tales of Berseria features action-based combat using the Linear Motion Battle System, which has characters freely running around the battle zone to fight enemies and be swapped between.

6 Super Robot Wars 30

Mechs from all kinds of anime have appeared in the Super Robot Wars series, although General Franky and his cyborg pilot are still waiting their turn. Super Robot Wars 30 is a turn-based strategy JRPG that celebrates the 30th anniversary of the crossover series and features mechs from series like Gundam, Sakura Wars, Code Geass, and more, intertwining their universes to create a new story.

In addition to featuring music from each represented series, there are also instrumental covers for all of these tracks, which will play whenever the corresponding unit performs an action if the setting is not changed.

5 Fairy Tail

The first Fairy Tail game to be officially localized may be confusing if you haven't followed the manga or anime series, as it covers the Grand Magic Games and Tartaros arcs, and the previous Japan-exclusive Fairy Tail games covered the previous arcs.

Battles in Fairy Tail aren't only turn-based, but they also feature a small grid for changing character positions, which can affect which attacks they can use and how much damage they receive. There are also a few battles where the environment is key to defeating enemies.

4 One Piece: Burning Blood

One of the few One Piece fighting games to see a launch outside of Japan, One Piece Burning Blood features over 40 playable characters and over 60 support characters, from the Romance Dawn arc to the Dressrosa arc.

Burning Blood features one-on-one fights between two three-person teams, with each character belonging to one of three groups, Power, Speed, and Technique, affecting their fighting style. There are also abilities from the series represented in the game, such as different types of Devil Fruit powers and Haki. Despite Burning Blood being a few years old, there has been yet to be another One Piece fighting game on consoles.

3 One Piece Pirate Warriors 4

One Piece Pirate Warriors 4, the fourth entry in the Pirate Warriors series that spun off from Dynasty Warriors, covers the Alabasta arc, the Enies Lobby arc, the Marineford arc, the Dressrosa arc, the Whole Cake Island arc, and a portion of the Wano Country arc, as its predecessors either covered previous arcs or had their own story.

With over 50 playable characters, including a handful of new ones, all the button-mashing action expected of a Dynasty Warriors game is there. Pirates Warriors 4 also introduced giant characters, who are larger and more powerful than their smaller counterparts, and also reintroduced mid-battle transformations from the first game.

2 Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag

Not actually the fourth Assassin's Creed game despite its title, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag heavily features pirates, and although it doesn't have the Devil Fruit powers or Haki abilities featured in One Piece, it's still recommended for any fan of pirate-related media.

Black Flag stars the pirate turned assassin Edward Kenway as he embarks on a journey sailing around the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy and fighting against the Templars when necessary. Due to its setting, Black Flag also expands upon the naval combat introduced in Assassin's Creed 3, letting Edward board enemy ships, defeat their crews, and steal them for his fleet or use their parts to repair his ship.

1 Dragon Quest 11 S

When One Piece Odyssey gameplay footage started appearing, many compared it to Dragon Quest 11, which ILCA coincidentally helped develop. Dragon Quest 11 S, the game's definitive version, is recommended over the original version due to platform variety, various visual, audio, and gameplay improvements, and all of its extra content.

Like One Piece Odyssey, Dragon Quest 11 S also features turn-based combat, and although party characters can change their position in battle by moving around on their turn, it doesn't affect gameplay. Like other recent JRPGs, Dragon Quest 11 S has overworld encounters rather than the random encounters of older games in the series unless you switch to the retro 2D mode.
