The former OpTic CS:GO roster has officially disbanded. The team struggled to find consistency since parent company Infinite Esports was bought out by Immortals Gaming Club earlier this year. The team had to be released from Immortals to avoid conflict of interest rules, as the organization already owns Brazilian Counter-Strike team MIBR. They had been in search of a new home since, with rumors linking them to various organizations.

The roster news began with North’s acquiring of ex-OpTic player René “cajunb” Borg. Then down to four players, OpTic in-game leader Mathias “MSL” Lauridsen announced on Twitter that he was benching himself from the roster.

In MSL’s Tweet, he cites the OpTic organization’s sale as a setback for the team. He also mentions their plan to buy stronger players to fortify the roster, but that the organization’s instability prevented them from building a proper team. MSL later states that he is looking for new opportunities, and that he is open to both European and North American offers. The veteran in-game leader has mostly played on Danish rosters, though he did have a brief stint on North American squad Rogue last year.

The next announcement came from OpTic star Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke, who disclosed that the team had chosen to disband because “there is no future.” Like MSL, k0nfig states that he is “ready to be sold individually.” The Danish talent reveals some more information on the roster’s instability, stating that “OpTic wouldn’t let us buy any players,” and that “It has all been a waiting game.” He also mentions MSL and teammate Nikolaj “niko” Kristensen as players he “really loved playing with.”

OpTic had been filling the roster with relatively unknown players, including 18-year-old René "TeSeS" Madsen and 19-year-old Oliver "kwezz" Rasmussen. Kwezz joined the team less than a week ago as a stand-in, filling the spot left by cajunb's departure. TeSeS has stated on Twitter that he is open to any European offers.

OpTic’s last appearance came at ESL Pro League Season 10, where they finished last in their group. After taking losses to FaZe Clan, mousesports, and BIG, they were eliminated from the tournament. It is currently unclear where any former OpTic players will end up, but it has been stated that they are all available for transfer. It is understood that the players are still contracted to OpTic Gaming, and any organization hoping to sign them will have to pay a buy-out.
