The Devastator is an absolute tank in Outriders. The three separate class trees all bring a lot to the table, and there's a lot to be said for both the Vanquisher and Warden class trees to create the ultimate invincible Devastator build.

For the purposes of the article, we're focusing on a very specific Devastator build that utilizes the Vanquisher tree, makes huge use of the Gravity Leap skill, and of course, focuses on incredible close-range damage. You can also check out our alternative best Devastator build.

Best Class Tree For The Invincible Devastator Build

This build is the best Devastator build if you want to sponge damage and act as the main focal point of all incoming aggro. You'll be able to heal consistently, keep kiting your enemies, and dealing massive Close Range damage. For the purposes of this build, you will need to focus on the Warden skill tree.

Why? Well, there are some seriously useful class points along the way:

  • Into The Fray will increase damage mitigation after you use your Kinetic Gravity Leap skill (very important for this build)
  • Colossus & Resistance Paragon will raise your max health and general resistance
  • Stone Circle boosts close range damage in a wider circle around you, ideal for getting involved and up close

The final perk, Mighty Tank, is fantastic if you stack armor throughout the build. Your damage will be increased based on a percentage of your armor. You'll become both a tank and a damage dealer. Perfect.

There's a lot of crossover between the Vanquisher tree and the Warden tree. We ran an experimental build that picked up the multiple Kinetic skill cooldown reduction skills in Vanquisher for even more Gravity Leaps, and it worked pretty well. Something to keep in mind if you want to try a hybrid-style build.

Best Skills For The Invincible Devastator

This is where this build really sticks out. You want to focus on your Gravity Leap skill as your primary skill. The success of this build relies on one magical mod: the tier 1 Life Absorption mod, which is a class-specific Armor mod for the Devastator.

When applied, the mod will allow you to heal 15 percent of the damage dealt with your Gravity Leap. If you kill the enemy, this is boosted to 30 percent. Remember, this stacks with multiple enemies because Gravity Leap is an AOE skill. You can basically fully heal off each Gravity Leap. It's awesome.

With Gravity Leap already secured, there is a little more freedom with the other two skills for this build. However, from our own experience, we recommend you stick with skills that Interrupt, so Earthquake or Boulderdash. Boulderdash gets the boost from your "Into the Fray" perk, so worth keeping it in mind.

Lastly, for the tankiest Devastator build (that feels basically invincible) you should run the Golem skill. This surrounds you with a protective shield that absorbs 65 percent of incoming damage. Golem is perfect for stalling out a fight until your Gravity Leap comes off cooldown, giving you the chance to leap into the air and heal the majority of your health back. Don't forget to pair great mods with this build, too.

Best Weapons For The Invincible Devastator Build

The Devastator specializes in close-range damage, and therefore it's a good mix of SMGs and Shotguns that you should keep your eye on. If you're ready to face the endgame expeditions (which this invincible Devastator build is more than capable of doing) then you'll want some legendary weapons. Not all are created equal, but there's a choice few that feel tailor-made for this build.

Our favorites for this build include the legendary Golem's Limb shotgun, with the awesome Tier 3 mod Golem Rising (killing shots grant a protective buff around you, like the Golem skill), and the Deathshield Shotgun, which has increased damage based on your armor thanks to the Tier 3 Fortress mod. This has great synergy with your Warden class tree.

Invincible Devastator Playstyle

The playstyle for this build is all about utilizing your Gravity Leap whenever possible. This skill will allow you to heal to pretty much maximum HP, especially if you're diving into a crowd of enemies. There's a certain art to kiting with the Devastator. You want to kite your enemies, Gravity Leap into the center, let off a few rounds of Shotgun, and then repeat. If executed properly - with the ideal loadout of mods and gear - you are pretty much invincible.

You are also responsible for taking most of the aggro for your team. An ideal composition for this build might pair it up with a Technomancer running a support build, a Trickster that is specializing in high DPS, and a Pyromancer that heads down the Ash tree to immobilize your enemies and provide more time for your skills to cooldown.
