We haven't heard much about Overwatch 2 since Blizzard announced it in 2019, but there's good news for patient fans. Game director Jeff Kaplan has confirmed we'll be hearing more about the anticipated game soon at BlizzCon.
Revealed as part of their latest developer update, Jeff Kaplan advised that we'd learn more during BlizzCon Online, a digital-only event which replaces their traditional live show after cancelling it due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, this is now due to take place on February 19-20th.
Speaking further within the update, Jeff Kaplan reconfirmed their focus on Overwatch 2 whilst also providing details on Kanezaka, a brand new map set in Japan. Unlike normal maps, Kanezaka ditches Overwatch's traditional 6v6 fights for a Free-For-All deathmatch and though it hasn't launched yet, PC players can try it out early for testing via the PTR.
In the meantime, every Overwatch player can separately enjoy the Winter Wonderland 2020 event, which recently went live and brings a fresh round of winter skins, emotes, intros and other celebrations.
We'll keep you updated as new developments emerge with Overwatch 2, but we do know that Blizzard are planning to merge both games. So if you're eager to jump in now, you can do so across PC, Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
