The Overwatch League stormed onto the esports scene in 2018, drawing countless viewers watching on a number of platforms, including Twitch and overwatchleague.com. Its climactic playoff series' have even aired on Disney XD and ABC. Gamers and esports fans alike have taken a liking in watching some thrilling and dazzling Overwatch play by seasoned vets and entertaining personalities.

One of the often neglected appeals of this league lies in its unique and colorful team skins, which players at home can flash on their very own heroes by purchasing league tokens. The variance and character in the team colors has proven vast; even more so following the debut of 8 new OWL teams on top of the original 12. These skins have managed to encapsulate the region they represent with their own cultural flair, while also complimenting many of the heroes that sport them. This has led to some truly sleek looking hero skins.

With that said, let's examine the top 10 best-looking Overwatch League skins, while highlighting the heroes that wear them best.

10 Philadelphia Fusion (Winston)

Philadelphia Flyers fans might recognize this harsh shade of pumpkin orange, and indeed, its Overwatch League team, the Fusion, dons a similar bright orange and white color scheme. The colors are much like the Fusion's style of play - bold and aggressive. It can thus be hard to find a hero that looks appealing sporting this loud shade of pumpkin spice.

Though if there is any hero that can wear it well, it's the genetically engineered ape, and one of the premiere characters of Overwatch, Winston. The orange invokes a NASA space-suit vibe, which is fitting given Winston's Lunar-base origins.

9 Atlanta Reign (Moira)

In sticking with the typical thematic colors of their city (namely paying homage to the Atlanta Falcons and Hawks), the Reign has followed a similar color scheme of red and grey.

While the color scheme itself is rather tepid in its design, that epic red phoenix rising atop the royal crest certainly fits well with Moira's heir of confidence tinged with a touch of arrogance. The red and light grey also mesh with her hair color and her pale complexion quite well. The deep red hue prominent in her outfit certainly fits well with her alchemist-meets-mad-scientist traits.

8 London Spitfire (Tracer)

When it comes to appealing, slick looking skins, a borderline baby-blue isn't one that often comes to mind. Yet, the defending Overwatch League champions, the London Spitfire, have made it work, partly by cleverly incorporating the sky-blue hue into its logo. The golden-orange trim also serves as an excellent complement to its light-blue counterpart.

Given the sky-blue theme, Mercy is a natural fit for London's team colors. Though Overwatch-agent favorite Tracer also wears it well. It fits her light-hearted, cheery nature, and the neon blue invokes a sci-fi characteristic she very much represents as well.

7 Guangzhou Charge (Mercy)

Speaking of Mercy, the Guangzhou's soft color scheme of light pale blue and blue-green truly look terrific on Mercy. Her angelic themes along with her healing nature in the field of medicine fit thematically, as they remind one of both sky-blue and of hospital colors.

Guangzhou's colors, in general, are quite interesting in that they steer clear of the more typical deep blue as the dominant color, while still looking sleek. They instead emphasize soft hues, which are meant to represent the scenic colors of nature which permeate that particular region of China.

6 LA Valiant (Ana)

While Ana's default colors are dominated by a murky beige cloak highlighted with dark blue trim, the LA Valiant's pretty hues of green and gold look quite slick on her. The gold hood peaking outlining the black cloak top, along with the glossy golden bands around her legs really stand out. The deep green that dominates her outfit is also not a huge leap from the sort of cameo-brown she typically wears when sniping foes in the deserts of Egypt.

And while the team's unique color scheme is fun to look at in general, Ana in particular sports a fine balance of the two, while the harsh green permeates most of the other hero outfits a bit too heavily.

5 Shanghai Dragons (Hanzo)

At least until recently, fans of the Florida Mayhem and Shanghai Dragons could say they had two things in common - their teams were both bottom feeders, and they sported colors that reminded one of McDonalds more than an eSports franchise. While Florida's adopted a far neater retro-80's vibe of neon blue and purple as an alternative jersey style, the dragons are still all in on their red and yellow color combo.

This bold color scheme produces mixed results when it comes to hero skins, but there are a handful that wear it quite well. Enter matrial arts master and archer, Hanzo. The colors suit his martial arts robe perfectly, as does the prominent "Dragons" logo across the bottom. The red in particular is a fitting representation of the dominant color of Japan's flag; Hanzo's country of origin.

4 New York Excelsior (Sombra)

One of the Overwatch League's most dominant teams happens to also sport one of the most visually appealing team skins. It's nothing too fancy, but the primary colors dominated by dark blue manage to be both simple and slick. The red trim also adds a nice touch that contrasts and balances out the deep blue shades well.

Because of the versatility and sleek designs, a great many heroes end up looking excellent in NYXL blue. Specifically, though, those characters that stress more sci-fi characteristics pull it off magnificently; namely Symetra and the devious hacker Sombra.

3 Los Angeles Gladiators (Reinhardt)

Nothing screams majesty like a towering Reinhardt laced with royal purple armor and wielding a massive hammer. The themes, as well as the purple and black colors of LA's other OWL team, the Gladiators, draw from epic Ancient Roman lore, making for some neat skins all around.

Although there are many heroes that can pull off this dark purple look, Rein looks simply smashing in this LA skin, bringing his already intimidating appearance up a notch. The team's mantra of "shields up!", along with its lion and shield logo blend perfectly with Rein's tank nature, Gladiator armor, and warrior spirit.

2 Houston Outlaws (Reaper)

It would stand to reason that the Houston Outlaws would run with the uber-cool neon green and black color scheme, since they're owned by the eSports organization OpTic Gaming, which already uses these as their trademark colors. Unlike most on this list, this color scheme is so awesome that it looks great with just about every Overwatch hero.

With that said, the gun-slinging "outlaw" nature of McCree, and especially Reaper's ominous presence, mesh well with Houston's edgy designs. There's just something inherently cool about the black cape emboldened by that appealing shade of vibrant green.

1 Seoul Dynasty (Bastion)

Let's face it - just about every hero looks fantastic in Seoul Dynasty's ultra-sleek team colors. I mean, black and glossy gold is just about as cool a color combo as you can possibly get. As you might expect, the more mechanical heroes tend to pull this off the best, as the slick gold gives off a bronze or brass appearance. D.va, Torbjorn, and Orisa certainly come to mind here.

It stands to reason then, that the bird-loving robotic weapon of the Omnic Crisis, Bastion, would wear it best of all. Not only does the color scheme suit him nicely, but Seoul's signature tiger emblem is clearly and boldly displayed on his metallic body.
