Overwatch's Second Anniversary Even Begins May 22; Classic Skins Coming Back

Blizzard has officially announced their second anniversary celebration for the smash hit, Overwatch.

The event was confirmed on May 15th, and will run from May 22nd up until June 11th. In classic Blizzard fashion, the update will include 50 items for this second anniversary celebration, including eight skins and a myriad of other products to excite players of the game.

Two of these skins were revealed on May 16th, and are a Venom Solider: 76 skin and a Lightning Tracer. It's likely that players will see more reveals before the actual event, but these skins are the first that fans of the game have seen since the celebration was confirmed.

For those who haven't yet played Overwatch this second anniversary event will also provide something for you.

In a blog post on the Overwatch website, Blizzard announced a free weekend for prospective players. The free weekend will run on the first weekend of the second anniversary celebration, from May 25th-28th. In the post Blizzard said, "For this free weekend, we're making Overwatch's full roster of 27 heroes and 18 maps available for play in a variety of modes, including Quick Play, Custom Games, and the Arcade. Players will also be able to level up, earn Loot Boxes, and unlock a variety of different customization options for their heroes. Plus, if you decide to purchase Overwatch after test driving the game, you'll get to keep any progress that you made during the weekend—just be sure to use the same Blizzard, Xbox Live, or Sony Entertainment account that you played on."

Players will also see some familiar things come back, as all of the first anniversary loot will come back, and all of the seasonal loot will also return in loot boxes. So if players missed a skin, they may be able to get it.

So whether players are seasoned Overwatch players, or have never picked up the game, this second anniversary celebration will provide everyone with the chance to enjoy the game!
