Overwatch has been a monster in the video game scene, with constant updates, community feedback that’s actually listened to, and even characters that represent so many different people from all over the globe. It’s no wonder that this game happens to be one of the most popular in the world right now. It’s bright, colorful, and most of all it’s fun.

Overwatch has also excelled at one major thing that hasn’t really been achieved by many other competitive games, the fact that they've made the Overwatch fanbase feel like a real community is out of this world. But Tracer is special compared to the other heroes in the game; not only is her style unique and we’ve never seen another character like this in the game industry, but she was also the first character introduced into the Overwatch world when they were first making the game.

Many people don’t realize that this is why she’s so favored by the company Blizzard, because she’s usually the main character in the advertisements that you see whenever there is an event for the game happening. She’s such an iconic character, you can’t help but fall in love with her charisma and funny voice lines; we can’t be the only ones to feel like this! While some people might be salty about the fact that Tracer is the one that people seem to pay attention to the most, but it’s also very cool how much work they’ve put into her story and her elements that make her come alive as a developed character throughout the gameplay experience.

25 A Super Pilot!

Did you know that Tracer was actually a pilot that often got herself in the middle of the drama with fights even in the air? While the game doesn’t ever offer a look into her past or any of the characters and their past experiences, it is interesting to know this little tidbit of info even if it might not make sense with her powers.

Her past has so much lore, it’s actually so amazing to see the care and thought that has been put into this character, she almost seems real!

Still pretty cool to know how she developed her powers and the history of her nickname.

24 She Should Be A Ghost

Even though it wouldn’t make any sense with the story of the game and her own personal lore, Tracer really is a ghost if you really think about it.

She’s basically able to move through time and space by breaking down her body in a constant state of confusion.

She goes into very deep detail about this in her comics and lore articles, but overall, she’s pretty much a living ghost that really is in a constant state of never knowing what time she really is existing within.

23 She Was The Very First Character

While it might not be clear as to why she was the first character in development for the game, she is, even if it doesn’t really make sense since they do focus on many of the other characters, maybe even more than the company focuses on Tracer. But because she’s the first character in the game, she holds a lot of meaning for those who have worked on the game and many of the branched off projects that have involved her, such as murals, stop-motion projects, and so much more from the game community.

22 Her Abilities Have Been Seen Elsewhere

Many people don’t know this, but Tracer’s powers were actually taken from another game project that was canceled. Most don’t know why this was a highlight and why these ended up being her powers, just that they were ripped from another game called Titan that was actually canceled from the same company, Blizzard. They worked on the game for almost 7 years until it ended up being canceled a few years back, but it is pretty cool they kept some of the ideas alive.

21 Overwatch Wasn’t The First

Some fans have forgotten about this, but Tracer actually appeared in the MOBA game Heroes of the Storm by Blizzard! She was released in the game a month before Overwatch actually came out.

It’s totally normal to find inspiration within other parts of the industry, and that’s what they did for Tracer!

While many other characters that people love have been involved with the MOBA, it seems like people have really forgotten about her being announced before the game even came out to the public.

20 She Hates Widowmaker

Like we mentioned above, there aren’t a ton of story segments in the actual game, but there are many comics and other short videos out there that showcase how the characters really interact with each other.

Many have suspected the cause of hate between the two characters Tracer and Widowmaker, but it’s confirmed that this hate is very real.

Tracer failed in a fight with Widowmaker and it meant that they would be enemies from then on, there’s no chance they would ever be friends!

19 Her Skins Mean Something

Many of the skins that Tracer has offer many hints and nods towards her story and lore that follow her wherever she goes. Tracer seems to have the most legendary skins compared to any of the other characters in the game, which doesn’t really make sense, but it is nice to know that if Blizzard is going to play favorites, at least they really go all out. Overall, she does have some of the coolest skins though, we love them all!

18 She Was The Most Searched

The game has faced a lot of controversy with artists drawing and creating videos of the characters in the game doing strange acts, and Tracer is one of the most popular searches when it comes to that. Not only is she popular with fan art, but people just want more and more.

While we won’t go into details, you should know that many people are very familiar with Tracer!

Let’s hope people can snap out of this and just grow up as they move on!

17 She Was Considered Strange

One of Tracer’s victory poses that you see when the game is over and your team wins was deemed inappropriate because of her backside facing the player. Many didn’t understand why exactly this pose was so bad, since she has one that’s quite similar. Maybe they just didn’t want to push the buttons of those who might be offended by something like this. We are pretty glad they made this change though, it makes people focus more on her as a dynamic character.

16 The Famous Voice Actress

Did you know that Tracer’s voice actress actually played roles in many important TV series and often appears on British drama shows that are watched all over the world? The actress Cara Theobold did such a great job at making sure that Tracer is seen as a preppy spunky girl that is motivated and strong when it comes to a fight. But she also made sure Tracer has a bit of a sense of humor as well which makes people relate to her so much!

15 A Giant Game Figure Built

One thing Blizzard has always done right is that they seriously hype up their game announcements. They usually go out into the real world and do something huge! But this time they went bigger than ever before when they created a huge giant Tracer that appeared in Hollywood. While they did make more figures of other characters, people were super excited to see the Tracer figure, it was so cool to see a giant figure like that right on a street corner.

14 She’s Actually Spiritual

While it’s not always mentioned in the game much, Tracer actually follows spiritual teachings of the robot monks like Zenyatta. This piece of personal information really tells a lot about her character and who she is as a person.

She’s gone through so much in her life, it’s nice to know there is a side of peace.

It makes sense, though, since she’s so positive and upbeat, she tries her best to be a positive example to the other members of the Overwatch team.

13 She Almost Had Laser Eyes

In the first draft of the actual game, it came out that Tracer almost had a power to shoot lasers out of her eyes instead of having guns. While that might have been able to work and would have probably been quite cool, it’s actually much more interesting to know that Tracer has the ability to take off her powers, which makes her stand apart from the other individuals on the Overwatch team. Maybe they’ll add another character to the roster that can have the laser eyes.

12 Her Comic Is Banned In Some Countries

Each character in the Overwatch team roster actually has their own origin story and comics that feature them in it. The comics tell stories about the heroes personal lives and when it comes to Tracer, she actually has a girlfriend, which makes the comic too much for some countries like Russia.

Why can’t we just all get along for the greater good of Tracer lore!?

While it might seem crazy that they would ban something like that, it’s fantastic Blizzard has stood up for something that needs representation.

11 She Can Remove Her Powers

Tracer can take off her accelerator and stay in one point in time. Which means that she can take off her harness that contains the accelerator. Many people thought this was a mistake, but the Blizzard team acknowledged that there is a reason why she doesn’t always have it on.

Can you imagine being able to put on powers any time you want to zip around super fast?!

As long as she has the harness and accelerator near her, she’s fine and can maintain her physical form.

10 All Of The Event Skins

If you’re not a Tracer fan, then you’ve probably noticed more than anyone else that she actually almost always gets at least one event skin each event. While it’s not always the case, it is true she has the most legendary skins as well. Not everyone is super happy about this, especially since she isn’t one of the most popular characters to actually play in-game. Maybe in the future, they’ll make it a bit more fair for the other characters as well.

9 Aiming Is Key

One thing about Tracer that many haven’t understood is how many people don’t know how to play her right in-game. For example, she often times gets headshotted when she has every tool in the book to keep her alive, especially when it comes to headshots. Maybe with a bit more practice, we’ll actually be able to get the hang of her powers because they’re good against any hero! Plus she’s really good at headshots as well, which is unexpected!

8 She’s The Best Leader

Just from her personality in the cinematic and the voice lines, she’s obviously meant to be a leader. She has such a strong personality it’s obvious that she takes control and turns the situation to be in her favor.

She takes charge and she gets the job done no matter what happens to be thrown her way.

It’s also pretty awesome that they’ve used her in a way that will inspire others as well, cheers to that from Tracer!

7 Doomfist’s Origin And Tracer

One thing many people seem to forget is the story between Doomfist and Tracer, because it’s very emotional and messy. You might even end up crying after this! Doomfist basically wasn’t the nicest person ever, he really doesn’t care about many other people and one of those people included Tracer when she tried to help Genji. He ended up pulling off her accelerator and she started to disappear, it’s all very sad, it did happen in the past, so she is okay now, we just hate that it happened at all!

6 Everyone Loves Her

While there’s a huge movement for the game in general, there is a huge fanbase dedicated to Tracer as well. Many people love to show their appreciation by creating art and even getting tattoos of the characters they love. Tracer has always really been such a cool character design so we don’t really blame people for wanting to showcase that in their own creative and artistic way! We love looking through fan art of the heroes in the game, so cool.
