Wraeclast in Path of Exile is a place devoid of society; it's Neanderthal heaven over there. There are no laws and no currency to dictate how you should function. Too bad all the exiles from Oriath got dumped in there and started introducing the concept of trading. After that, people started mass murdering for rocks to trade for shiny items. That's no joke, that's how the currency system works in Path of Exile.

These rocks, called orbs, are the primary way of dictating an item's value. The most standard among them is the Chaos Orb whose rarity is the most balanced for it to be considered the main currency. To make things more complicated, these orbs themselves have inherent values and purposes apart from being a currency. Of course, the main goal is always amassing the best orbs available. That's how you get rich in Path of Exile to hopefully buy your way into godhood. It's all about these shiny rocks and their selling prices. But prices might change without further notice.

10 Ancient Orb

Ancient Orbs are one of the most elusive currencies in the game as it was introduced back in the Harbinger League back in 2017, during the primordial, more violent days of Path of Exile, hence the "ancient" in its name. Jokes aside, these things are worth around 10 Chaos Orbs in Standard.

As for their use, Ancient Orbs are used for reforging a unique item into another item of the same class, useful for fishing for flasks. Getting it might take more effort as you'd need some Ancient Shards that drop from Harbingers.

9 Blessing Of Chayula

Blessing of Chayula is another orb that was introduced through a lovely League called Breach which breached its way in the main game through sheer fun and insanity. This one's only obtainable from Chayula herself in her own domain, which is accessible through collecting 100 Splinters of Chayula and turning them into a Breachstone.

It's only worth around 10 Chaos orbs in standard though but people can go crazy for it as it can make a Breach item more powerful. Such an orb is useful if you're into crafting, which is a better way of obtaining your BIS gear than waiting for it to drop or trading for it.

8 Divine Orb

Diving Orbs are one of the oldest and pioneer orbs in Path of Exile and it still holds value to this day despite the advent of more precious orbs. The Divine Orb sits comfortably well at around 11 Chaos Orbs in Standard.

Divine Orbs are incredibly helpful for when you finally get your desired unique or rare item only for it to roll some disappointing stats. Before you throw it away, you can risk raising or lowering its stats using the Divine Orb.

7 Elevated Sextant

Echoes of the Atlas is one of the latest expansions in Path of Exile and it introduced The Maven and along with her, a new currency called the Elevated Sextant. Only she can drop this orb, which is why it's priced at around 56 Chaos Orbs.

The Elevated Sextant, for that matter, is an awesome item capable of buffing several maps in your Atlas just by applying it at a Watchstone. Do use it wisely though and only according to the map's availability.

6 Exalted Orbs

Exalted Orbs now come in many shapes and sizes but they're all similarly priced except for the Warlord, Hunter, and Redeemer variants. For the sake of simplicity, we'd be referring to the basic version of the Exalted Orb, which costs around 120 Chaos Orbs give or take.

Most players hold the Exalted Orb in high regard. Think of it as the 100 dollar bills or Benjies of Path of Exile while the Chaos Orbs are 10s. Most players don't spend them either and only use them to purchase their way into META builds. If you're swimming with them, then you can use them to add a new random property to a rare item.

5 Awakener's Orb

awakener's orb

The Awakener's Orb is a crafter's most prized tool as they can use it to replicate perfect items though the original item will be destroyed. Think of it as a cut-and-paste orb in Path of Exile but for items with influences (Elder, Shaper, etc.).

As for the price, it's expensive; it costs around 350 Chaos Orbs in Standard at the time of writing. Getting it is also a bit difficult since it only drops from Sirus, Awakener of Worlds in the Atlas. Consider yourself rich though if one drops, or if you can farm Sirus consistently enough.

4 Maven's Orb

If you want something even more expensive than the Awakener's Orb, enter Maven's Orb. It drops from The Maven herself, one of the final bosses of the Atlas. Prior to that, you also need to have completed her challenges. That's why Maven's Orb costs around 2,800 Chaos Orbs to purchase via trade.

Maven's Orb is great for those looking to perfect their influenced items. It's primarily used for elevating the modifiers for your influenced armor pieces. Or you can use it to get rich instead, what have you.

3 Mirror Shard

The Mirror Shards aren't orbs so they don't have inherent values in them. At most, they're actually used for stacking up until you have enough of them (20) to turn into a Mirror of Kalandra, more on that one later. At the moment, they cost around 5,500 Chaos Orbs.

If you managed to find a few of them, you can use them to retire in Path of Exile. However, they only drop from Harbingers or are acquired from maps with the Harbinger League flag.

2 Eternal Orb

Eternal Orbs are even more expensive than Mirror Shards as each one of these babies costs more than 87,000 Chaos Orbs. At that point, you'd be better off asking for Exalted Orbs as payment, assuming you get one of these which is impossible as they don't drop.

Hence, the number of Eternal Orbs in the game can be counted. Why is it so good? Because it creates an imprint of an item and you can revert the item back to its imprint in case you botch its crafting or stats. As with all insurances, it's overpriced and expensive.

1 Mirror Of Kalandra

Mirror of Kalandra

As for the rarest currency in the game, that would be the Mirror of Kalandra. Its rarity is proportional to its usefulness since the Mirror of Kalandra can be used to create an exact copy of an item though it will be marked as a duplicate and cannot be further modified. You can acquire it from Mirror Shards or through Divination Cards.

The selling price? more than 100,000 Chaos Orbs even though it's easier to acquire than Eternal Orbs— theoretically. Too bad most of you who have read this probably won't have it but that's okay, Chaos Orb for life!
