Grinding Gear Games announced Path of Exile's next expansion – Expedition – will arrive on July 23. Not only does it include 19 new skills to experiment with, but it also reintroduces the popular Royale Mode last seen in 2018.

During a livestream earlier today, GGG gave fans an extended look at Expedition. With four new merchants, 19 new skills and support gems, a flask system rework, and more, Path of Exile is in for some big changes. The full update will be available for free download later this month.

You can check out the lengthy livestream reveal below:

"Today's live stream is a busy one," Chris Wilson, developer and producer at GGG, announced. "We'll start by revealing the details of this expansion's new challenge league. Then we'll show you how this expansion is going to dramatically shake up Path of Exile's metagame in a big way."

Wilson continued, "Thirdly, we'll talk about our plans to make Path of Exile more challenging, restoring some of the adrenaline and terror that you may recall from the good old days of Closed Beta. Next up, we're going to talk about Path of Exile: Royale, the 100-player battle royale mode that we experimented with back in 2018. We will be launching a restored and revamped version of Royale today, once our question and answer session with ZiggyD has concluded, and this event will run over the weekend."

Path of Exile: Royale will be live for the next 48 hours, featuring a new passive skill tree, a low-level version of popular endgame gems, a spectator mode, leaderboards, and a bunch of other quality of life changes. It'll be playable every weekend throughout the Expedition League – so make sure to set aside some time to jump into the fan-favorite event.

Path of Exile can be downloaded for free on Steam, as can the Expedition update when it arrives on July 23. Until then, you've got a bit of time to sharpen your skills with Royale mode.
