Starbreeze and Overkill have announced that their tactical, co-op shooter Payday 2 will be getting its next DLC update tomorrow. Titled "Silk Road," this latest pack will be a mixture of both free and paid DLC. It'll be available tomorrow, November 7, for players on each platform.

The main addition for Silk Road will be the "Border Crossing" heist. This pack will set you back $6.99. Pitting you and three friends against Murkywater and the Dentist, the mission will focus on thwarting the plans of these evil forces to prevent their illicit activities near the Mexican border. It looks directly inspired by the aesthetic of Breaking Bad, not to mention other gang-related films. As Starbreeze notes, this heist will be playable in both loud and stealth modes.

The next major change will be a brand new cosmetic system, which is free for everyone. Giving players the option of selecting both their masks and outfits separately, it seems this update is meant to make use of the various costume DLC packs that Payday 2 has. As a gift to get people interested, Silk Road will come with six new outfits for free. These will include:

  • Tactical BDU
  • Raincoat
  • Scrubs
  • Winter Camo Park
  • Tuxedo
  • Murkywater Uniform

A paid costume pack will also be coming to the form of $2.99. Titled the "Tailor Pack 1" DLC, it will feature four new costumes with 20 different color variations. It's not exactly the best deal around, but still something.

Finally, the last addition in the Silk Road update will be the "Cartel Optics Mod Pack" DLC -also $2.99. Players will gain ten new weapon mods centered on optics and sights for their guns. It will contain exactly three new rifle rights, two pistol sights, two optics-based gadgets, a grip, muzzle brake, and a compensator. This will also be free along with everything else.

If you're looking to grab everything for one easy price, a bundle will pack all of these updates together for $9.99. It's a little confusing that certain things are free, but I suppose that's the way Payday 2 goes. Following this update, Starbreeze will continue supporting Payday 2 for the foreseeable future with more premium DLC.
