After taking a ride on the Subway, The Pedestrian finds themselves in a bustling city. From your base of operations at the manhole, you'll need to search high and low to find the components you need to move on. There is also a hidden area to explore with hats to wear. These aren't required — not even for Achievements — but they're fun and add flair to your character.

There are many more hazards in the City than in previous areas. If you get turned into an ink splatter, don't worry — you'll only ever be sent back to the beginning of the current puzzle.

Puzzle 22 - City Intro

1. After leaving the train control room, use the trampoline to get over the tall barrier and climb to the door in the upper-left corner.
   1. Don't worry about the area below you — you can't reach it yet.

2. In the next sign, carefully use the trampolines to traverse the course without touching the sawblades.
3. Traverse the transition sign to reach the sewers, where you'll be introduced to a new mechanic.
4. Place the entrance sign on top of the exit sign. This will cause the arch in the background to connect the two.
5. Walk through the arch and use the exit. This first use of an arch will unlock the Achievement, "I Need To Get Back So I Can Write This Down."

Puzzle 23 - Overlap Swap

1. After passing through a transition sign, place the Pedestrian's current sign over the other one.
2. Use the arch to move to the other sign. Since the signs are still connected, a new arch will appear.
3. Use the second arch to return to the original sign on the right side.
4. Grab the wire and continue to the right.
5. Jump up to the second level and use the wire to complete the circuit.
6. After a brief animation, the gate will open. Proceed to the right.

Puzzle 24 - Bouncers And Blades

1. The signs here are bolted in place. The top floor and bottom floor are far enough away that their doors cannot be connected.
2. Connect the two topmost doors.
3. Connect the bottom-left door to the middle-right door, and connect the bottom-right door to the middle-left door. This will create an X.
4. Go through the only door that is currently accessible - this will bring you to the middle of the right-hand sign.
5. Drop down to the bottom and go through the door. You should be near the lever on the left-hand sign.
6. Pull the lever. This will activate the trampoline below you.
7. Carefully use the trampolines to reach the third floor without touching the sawblades.
8. Go through the door and pull the other lever, activating the right-hand trampoline.
9. Drop down to the trampoline and use it to reach the exit.

Puzzle 25 - Manhole Mayhem

1. You'll arrive at a sign containing a key behind a locked door. Ignore it for now and climb the ladder in the upper-right.
2. Like the puzzle near the end of the Subway, you'll need to travel from the hub to different courses to collect the components you need to move on.

How To Get The Box

Retrieving the box you'll need to leave the city is a multi-puzzle process. Read on for a step-by-step walkthrough of this section.

Puzzle 26 - Disappearing Platforms

1. From the manhole hub, leave through the bottom-right exit. It's the only one on the entrance sign and has a sticky note with a box.
2. Pull the lever to make platforms appear above you.
3. Climb up and over to reach the left-hand side of the sign.
4. Press the button to temporarily cause the platform holding the key to disappear.
5. When the key drops down, collect it and unlock the door on the left.
6. Proceed to the left to reach the next sign.

Puzzle 27 - Triple Trampolines

1. On the chalkboard, use the trampoline on the right to reach the bottom lever.
2. Pull the lever to activate the center trampoline.
3. Jump down to the center trampoline and use it to reach the middle lever.
4. Pull the lever to activate the left trampoline.
5. Use the left trampoline to reach the top lever.
6. Pull the lever to activate the platform, then walk across to the right and move on to the next sign.

Puzzle 28 - Window Seating

1. Connect the entrance sign to the top-left door on the large rectangular sign.
2. Connect the right door on the large rectangular sign to the top door in the sign with two doors and a trampoline.
3. Connect the other door of the sign you've just connected to the C-shaped sign.
4. Connect the left door on the C-shaped sign to the sign with the locked door and lever.
5. Connect the bottom door of the large rectangular sign to the exit sign (which also contains the box).
6. Return to platforming mode and use the trampoline to reach the door.
7. Press the button at the top of the large rectangular sign to call the elevator in the C-shaped sign.
8. Continue to the right, following the path you've made to the C-shaped sign.
9. Ride the elevator all the way down and pick up the key.
10. Return to the elevator and go to the middle floor.
11. Walk left to unlock the door and pull the lever.
12. Use the elevator and trampoline to return the way you came to the large rectangular sign.
13. Drop through the floor and use the newly-created platform to jump over the wall and reach the bottom level.
14. Use the trampoline to reach the button and press it.
15. Go through the door to your left and ride the elevator to the bottom.
16. Push the box through the exit and a transition sign to return it to the hub.

How To Get The Wire

Like the box, the wire requires several puzzles to retrieve. Follow the steps below to get this critical component back to the hub.

Puzzle 29 - Street Sign Shenanigans

1. From the manhole hub, climb to the top sign and use the bottom-right door there. It's the one with the wire drawn on a sticky note.
2. When you reach the green signs, push the box as far to the right as you can. It will fall through the hole on the right-hand sign, blocking the laser there.
3. Drop through the floor, taking care to land on the left side of the boxes so you avoid the lasers.
4. Pushing the bottom box will also move the top box, allowing you to move forward safely.
5. When the boxes are under the key, use them to jump up and collect it. Again, be careful not to land on the lasers.
6. Push the boxes to the right and use them to reach the locked door.
7. Press the button to retract the pusher on the left sign.
8. Jump back down and pull the boxes back so you can jump to the door you came in from.
9. Once you're back in the left sign, drop through the floor and exit to your right.

Puzzle 30 - Vitas Varnas

1. Drop through the floor on the left side to avoid the laser.
2. Push the box onto the trampoline but don't use the trampoline yourself.
3. Climb back up to your starting position, where the box now rests.
4. Push the box over the ledge to your right to partially block the laser.
5. Drop through the floor to the trampoline, which is now safe to use.
6. At the top of the sign, pull the lever to deactivate the laser.
7. Drop down and through the floor to the right to move onward.

Puzzle 31 - Office Window

1. There is one ladder and one door connection here — link them both up.
2. Place the entrance sign so that the arch leads directly to the key. This will make the ladder temporarily unusable.
3. Return to platforming mode and go through the arch to pick up the key.
4. Move the entrance sign so that the ladder connection is once again valid. While you're at it, place the arch so it leads to the box. Be careful not to disconnect the ladder or door, as doing so will restart the puzzle.
5. Climb the ladder and use the arch to reach the box.
6. Unlock the door and push the box through. Don't hit the button just yet.
7. Place the box on the inactive trampoline, as far to the right as you can, then return to press the button.
8. The box will block the laser and provide a stepping stone, allowing you to jump to the wire.
9. Once you've collected the wire, exit to your left.
10. Use the trampoline in the walk signal to return to the manhole.

How To Get The Key

1. From the manhole, use the bottom-left exit on the top sign, following the sticky note for the key.
2. Traverse the transition signs, being careful to avoid hazards.

Puzzle 32 - Troublesome Timing

1. When you arrive at a chalkboard, carefully jump over the first trampoline so you don't get launched into the laser above.
2. Jump back over the trampoline, dropping the key in midair. It will begin to bounce up and down on the trampoline.
3. Go to the left side of the sign and drop to the trampoline there, timing it so you reach the platform above while the key blocks the laser. It might take a few tries.
   1. The best way to time it is to drop when the key hits the trampoline. Listen for the sound effect.

4. Jump to the top of the chalkboard and pull the lever to deactivate the laser.
5. Catch the key in midair and use it to unlock the door to the upper left.
6. Proceed left to the next sign.

Puzzle 33 - Corkboard Conundrum

1. In this puzzle, none of the signs can be moved.
2. Start by connecting the bottom door on the entrance sign to the third-floor door on the bottom-left sign
3. Connect the top door on the entrance sign to the second-floor door on the bottom-left
4. Connect the middle door on the entrance sign to the bottom door on the bottom-left sign.
5. Connect the top door of the bottom-left sign to the bottom door of the top-right sign.
6. Connect the top door of the top-right sign to the top door of the top-middle sign.
7. Connect the third-floor door of the top-right sign to the bottom door of the top-middle sign.
8. Connect the top door of the top-left sign to the second-floor door of the top-right sign (the connection can cross behind signs)
9. Connect the bottom door of the top-left sign to the bottom-right sign.
10. Return to platforming mode and go through the door to your left.
11. Follow the course you've created and pick up the key.
12. Drop down and go through the door to the left, opening the locked door.
13. Ride the elevator to the top and press the button you find there.
14. Proceed to the right and ride the next elevator.
15. Continue along the course, pushing the box along when you encounter it.
16. Pick up the key and use the box to climb over the wall.
17. Go through the door on the bottom right and proceed to the exit. You'll end up back at the manhole hub.

Puzzle 34 - How To Get The Power Converter

1. Climb to the top right exit with the sticky note depicting the power converter (it looks like a fan)
2. Continue to the right until you reach a set of blue signs.
3. You can't move signs horizontally in this puzzle, but you can rearrange them vertically.
4. Connect the ladder next to the Pedestrian to the sign with an arch on the left. Climb down and stand near the arch.
5. Place the arch over the key and pass through it.
6. Pick up the key, then drop through the floor to your starting position.
7. Move the sign with the arch back to the bottom so you can climb down the ladder once more.
8. Stand by the arch again and move the sign so the arch overlaps the unused sign on the left side (the one with the arch in its right half).
9. Go through the arch and move the sign you just left back to the bottom of the screen.
10. Connect the bottom of the ladder you're standing near to the remaining available destination and climb down.
    1. You'll be back on the first arch sign but on the right side of the wall.

11. Swap the positions of the two signs with the arches, then connect the remaining ladders.
12. Climb down and stand by the new arch.
13. Place your current sign over the entrance sign so you can access the door leading to the right.
14. Connect the door to the exit sign and pass through.
15. Use the key to reach the power converter and bring it through the exit door.

Sewer Notebook Puzzle (Optional)

1. Once you're back at the manhole and have both the key and the box, pick up the key and use the box to return to the sewers via the bottom-right ladder.
2. Unlock the door you bypassed before and pick up the key to replace the one you've used up.
3. The sign has a faint outline of a ladder etched into it - climb down to find a hidden puzzle.
4. Press the button on the right, then drop down to press the button below.
5. Hop down to the bottom floor and interact with the hat stand on the left.
6. You can interact with the hat stand multiple times to change the Pedestrian's headgear.
7. Use the trampoline to get back to the top. If you can't make the jump back to the ladder, just use the sawblade to die and restart at the top of the sign.
8. When you have the hat you want, climb back up to the manhole hub to continue your journey.

How To Activate The Manhole Gate

1. Once you've gathered all the components, use the left ladder on the bottom sign to enter the LCD Screen.
2. Insert the power converter into a component slot and return to the hub.
3. Pick up the key and stand on the box to reach the locked door.
4. With the door unlocked, run the wire from the plug at the bottom of the sign to the plug that was behind the door.
5. Once the circuit is complete and the power converter is in place, the gate will open. Climb the ladder in the top left to proceed.

Puzzle 35 - Back To The Train

1. You might not recognize it after so long, but you're back at the sign from the beginning of the City — this time you're in the area you couldn't reach before.
2. Press the button to clear your way back to the train.
3. Once the pusher is retracted, climb up and head to the right.
4. Use the dotted line to climb over the wall and continue to the right.
5. Back at the train controls, a new number is written on the clipboard. Just like before, use the lower three buttons to make the panel on the right match the number on the clipboard.
6. When you've entered the correct number, hit the button in the top right and leave the way you came after the cutscene. You'll arrive at the University.
