As a series, Persona is well known for having incredibly long games with complex narratives. They take a long time to complete, but they feel totally worth it thanks to the fantastic casts of characters and fun gameplay, even if one title's gameplay consists of a sparsely decorated tower of random encounters.

Persona 4 Golden is the updated rerelease of the fourth title in the series and adds even more content to the game. As a result, anyone who embarks on this quest of detectives and the land inside the television must be prepared for a significant time investment.

Even the hardiest of RPG veterans may balk when they find out just how long it takes to finish Persona 4 Golden. According to How Long To Beat, it takes, on average, a little less than 70 hours to reach the credits.

This is without diving into any optional content or trophy hunting, so beware. The game is incredibly cutscene-heavy, and when you do gain control, you're either trawling through dungeons filled with random encounters that vary wildly in difficulty or you're thinking hard about how to spend your social time. Even with a guide to optimize your gameplay, you're looking at a ton of time spent.

In a pleasant turn of events, completionists don't have to worry about Persona 4 Golden disrespecting their time too much. A normal playthrough will get you most of the way there, especially if you put some effort into optimizing your choices as you go (or use a guide).

Without a guide, unfortunately, you are severely unlikely to get all achievements on your first playthrough. Instead, you'd need to rely on the New Game Plus function, which lets you carry over Personas and Social Skills over to a new game, which can largely be sped through with the fast-forward function and bringing overpowered Personas to all the dungeons.

You'll be looking at around 140 hours to reach total completion, with most of the additional time coming from the likely-mandatory second playthrough.

Specifically, the following achievements will be the ones extending your playtime the most:

Hardcore Risette Fan

Hear 250 unique Rise navigation lines

Legend of Inaba

Max out all of your Social Links

Thorough Bookkeeper

Complete the Persona compendium

Card Collector

Register 100 skill cards

It's recommended that you look up guides to help with these, especially with optimizing your playthrough to max out all of your Social Links and tracking down those final Rise navigation lines.
