There’s plenty of stuff to keep you busy throughout the course of Persona 4 Golden, between dungeon-crawling and trying to solve a series of murders, but if you’ve got the time to sit down and turn a few pages, books are a great way to build your skills. While some serve to bolster abilities, the majority of them are great ways to boost your social stats.
So while it may not be the most exciting of Yu’s available activities, it definitely comes with benefits! Below, you’ll find all the info you need about books in Persona 4 Golden.
Persona 4 Golden’s Books, Explained
While a few books can be found in other places, the majority of your books will come from Yomenaido Bookstore, which you can visit in the South Shopping District.
If they don’t come from the bookstore, you’ll receive books following requests or events with your social links.
Your Strength social link can make it impossible to obtain all the books!
Choosing the soccer team over basketball is your ticket to finishing your library.
With most books boosting at least one of your five social stats, reading is one of the most effective ways to raise your social stats. We’ve got guides for raising each stat, but reading the books related to each stat is a surefire way to improve that skill when you’re finished reading.
Each book has between 2-5 chapters, and reading one chapter consumes a single time slot.
If you finish the book Hyperspeed Reader, you’ll then permanently be able to read two chapters at once.
Finishing all books in Persona 4 Golden gives you the Reader King accessory, which boosts your Magic stat by 10.
Finally, there is one achievement/trophy tied to your reading goals, too. By finishing all books in one playthrough, you’ll unlock the Compulsive Reader accolade.
