High school is always a time when teenagers are trying to find themselves as people, and Persona 4 Golden’s Kanji Tatsumi is no exception to this. While the residents of Inaba see him as an edgy delinquent, Kanji is, in fact, one of the softer characters in the game.
Kanji’s preferred hobbies are traditionally “feminine,” and coming to terms with his masculinity and enjoying what he enjoys without fear of judgment are central tenets of his social link. Once you get through his brash, impulsive exterior, Kanji Tatsumi is one of Persona 4 Golden’s most interesting social links.

Kanji's Social Link Battle Perks
It takes a little bit before you can begin Kanji's social link. It can begin as early as 6/9, after you hear a rumor that he's bullying people at school. Going to investigate formally begins the social link.
Like the rest of the Investigation Team, Kanji is able to learn and use impressive additional battle moves by way of ranking up his social link. If he's a feature in your party setup, then befriending him is an absolute must so you can unlock his perks.

How To Rank Up Kanji's Social Link
One of your best strikers in the Investigation Team, Kanji is worth pursuing a friendship with just for the story alone, even if he’s not in your dungeon-crawling squad.
As with the rest of the characters in the game, you can earn bonus affinity with Kanji for having a Persona that matches his arcana in your party.
In Persona 4 Golden, Kanji is your Emperor social link, so be sure to make a trip to the Velvet Room to grab an Emperor Persona to make the most of your time with Kanji.
