The story of Persona 4 Golden is made possible by Yu’s uncle, Ryotaro Dojima, offering to take him in while his parents work overseas for a year. A busy police detective and widowed father of one, Ryotaro typically has his hands pretty full.
And even if being a parent and trying to solve the cold case of his wife’s hit-and-run killing keeps him pretty busy, Ryotaro will still make time for Yu during the year you’re spending with him and his daughter, Nanako. Here’s a guide to making the most of your time with Ryotaro Dojima in Persona 4 Golden.

How To Start Dojima's Social Link
A rather busy police detective who pulls long hours most nights, Dojima can be a little tricky to track down and spend time with. And, like his daughter Nanako, you’ll need to begin ranking up your Expression skill fairly early on in order to progress this social link.
You need to have Rank 2 Expression to begin Dojima’s Rank 2 event. Rank 4 requires you to be of Rank 3 Expression, then Rank 5 won’t initiate until you’ve reached Rank 4 Expression.
Plan ahead!
Dojima’s social link begins automatically and can be started anytime after 5/6. The good news is that he’s easy to find, always popping up at the Dojima residence most nights, but this will only be true between dungeons in the story, or after you’ve finished the dungeon you’re currently infiltrating.
Even if you do see Ryotaro on occasion, you won’t be given the option to spend time with him until your story missions are complete for the moment. It's never a bad idea to finish dungeons as soon as you can when you unlock the infiltration, to optimize the free time you have to make friends and build skills.
How To Rank Up Ryotaro Dojima's Social Link
Like all the other Persona games, you can earn bonus affinity with all of your social links by keeping a Persona in your party that matches their arcana.
The same answers yield more points just for the match, so be sure to take advantage!
Ryotaro Dojima is Persona 4 Golden’s Hierophant social link, so if you don’t have a Hierophant Persona in your party, hit the Velvet Room before asking Dojima to hang out.
