Everything you’ve done so far throughout your dozens of hours spent in Persona 4 Golden has led to this final dungeon: Yomotsu Hirasaka. Exclusive to the better of P4G’s possible endings, this final dungeon sees Yu and the Investigation Team coming face to face with Izanami – the deity responsible for setting the whole last year of your life in motion.
But her dungeon is far from straightforward, with more enemies, loot, and set pathways than anywhere else in the game. For help with your big, last push in P4G to get through Yomotsu Hirasaka, you’ve come to the right place.
As Yomotsu Hirasaka is the final dungeon of the game, this guide will contain major spoilers for the ending of Persona 4 Golden.
How To Unlock Yomotsu Hirasaka
You’re able to enter Yomotsu Hirasaka on the day you’d otherwise be leaving Inaba. This will occur on 3/20, and you can only access the dungeon on this day.
We’ve got a separate article with more info on each of the endings of the game, but you’ll need to be on the path to the True or Normal endings to be given the chance to access Yomotsu Hirasaka.
If you've opted for a different ending, you'll be locked out of this section of the game.
After speaking with all your maxed social links, you’ve got the option to head home to finish packing, which will segue you to the normal ending and skip Yomotsu Hirasaka entirely if you agree to go.
If you’re trying to tackle the dungeon, though, decline going home. Head over to Junes, where the team will meet you. Agreeing that there’s still something will see you break from the group to find Nanako and Ryotaro Dojima.
They can be located at the riverbank section of the Samegawa Flood Plain.
When speaking to them, choose the following responses:
- “I want to talk to you.”
- “The weird attendant?”
- “I looked sick?”
- “It might be important.”
- (Any response)
After this, go to the Velvet Room for a conversation with the inhabitants there. Your responses don’t matter in this conversation – you’ll receive the Orb of Sight either way.
With all of this in motion, your final step to unlocking Yomotsu Hirasaka is to return to the Moel Gas Station, where you need to speak to the gas station attendant you met on your first day in Inaba.
When prompted, choose the following answers:
- “Isn’t this where I first… ?”
- “Do you know Namatame?”
The assistant will try to refuse to talk to you past this, but continue trying to talk to the assistant.
However, continue talking to them and say the following:
- “Did those two come here?”
- “Did you do anything to them?”
- “What did you do to me?”
- “Did you give me the power?”
- (Any response)
When the conversation ends, you have your final section of free control over Yu.
You can use this time to grab Personas from the Velvet Room, sell or trade items, or do any other final preparations before heading into Yomotsu Hirasaka to tackle the final dungeon
Once you enter the final dungeon, you are not allowed to go back to the real world again before the game is over following the completion of Yomotsu Hirasaka.
Recommended Level
Actual level recommendations for the end-most part of the game can be difficult, as they rely on what you’ve done so far throughout the entirety of the game.
With this being the final dungeon, you’ll likely be someplace in the 60-70 range for your level, though every player will be different.
The final boss of the game is at the end of this dungeon, and Izanami is Lv. 90 when you battle her. However, the enemies within Yomotsu Hirasaka are not this strong, with the lowest being Lv. 76.
By this point in the game, the higher your level, the faster you’ll get through the dungeon.
Some players prefer the challenge of staying at a somewhat lower level, while others prefer to be over-leveled to make the impending blow-out battle with Izanami a cakewalk.
You’ll be safe if you reach around Lv. 80 before the final boss fight. She’s tough, but a careful selection of moves and buffs makes the fight less difficult regardless of level.
Thankfully, the high levels of the shadows here means that the dungeon itself is a decent place to grind.
With so many enemy types and such a range of levels, you’ll definitely be leveling up at least a few times before you’ve finished the dungeon, regardless of the level at which you entered.
A good rule of thumb for Persona games is, if you’re struggling with the mini-bosses throughout the dungeon, you’re probably not ready for the boss.
Try to gauge your comfort level in battle before engaging Izanami, and make the leveling decision that’s right for your style of play.
Shadows And Personas In Yomotsu Hirasaka
It should come as no surprise that the final dungeon has the widest spread of enemies in the game, with a whopping 31 unique shadows ready to fight.
Keeping it all straight can be a challenge, so we've got a full affinities and weaknesses chart for you down below.
And as for shuffle time, this is where you'll find the strongest Personas you can get without fusion. Your end-game fusions will likely require these for ingredients, so be sure to be collecting if you're trying to finish the compendium.

Yomotsu Hirasaka Walkthrough
Thankfully, the layout in Yomotsu Hirasaka is not randomized. The floors in this dungeon are referred to as Paths, and below, we explain how to find the stairs to the next Path.
The directions below lead you to the stairs only. There is more to each level that you can explore to engage in additional battles or find extra loot.
However, the loot and shadows are random, making them tough to walk you through as directly as the layouts.
Path One
When you load into the dungeon, go straight down this long corridor, toward where it slants diagonally, and continue to follow this hall.
Past the slant, look for the first door on your left at the end of this hall. Go through it and follow the path forward, turning right when made to. The stairs are behind the first door on the left.
Path Two
From where you enter the floor, go straight until you find a door on the right. Enter it, head straight, and go left to find another door that leads into a long, straight stretch. Go down from this point until you find a door on the left.
Enter and turn right, where you’ll find the door to the stairs.
Path Three
Go down and turn right when the hallway curves, then right a second and third time. This should put you at a door directly behind where you entered Path Three on your mini-map.
Head straight up this path and turn left past the door at the end. From there, walk straight until a fork in the path, then turn left. The stairs will be halfway through this section of the hall.
It’s on this floor that you fight the first mini-boss: Neo Minotaur.
Path Four
Go down through a doorway from the starting position, then turn left and follow the hall until the first door on your left. The stairs are inside here.
Path Five
Head up until you see a doorway on the left. Follow this hall until you’re made to turn right, then walk past the first door in here toward the second.
Go down this corridor to a doorway on the left. Head straight inside, and the door to the stairs will be on your right.
Path Six
This floor is rather large and winding, making it somewhat easy to get turned around. Refer to your map as often as needed.
From the entrance to this level, go straight forward until you’re made to make a left, then use the doorway in this corridor. It leads you into a straight hallway with another door at the end, which you’ll need to go through.
Turn right out of the door, then right at the first opportunity. Follow this hallway until it turns left, and you’ll see the door to the stairs there.
It’s on this floor that you fight the second and final mini-boss for Yomotsu Hirasaka: Sleeping Table.
Path Seven
Run straight down this short corridor, making a right when the path turns. Go straight through the door up ahead, then make a left. Go down this path to another door at the end of the hall, and make a right through there.
Follow the hallway left up ahead, then straight down another long section that leads to another left. The stairs are then inside the first door on your left.
Path Eight
When you enter this level, run straight forward through the curving hallway until you find a door, then make a right and proceed to the second door on your right.
The door to the stairs will be the first door on the right in this new hallway.
Path Nine
Path Nine is where you battle Izanami and is therefore the final floor of Yomotsu Hirasaka.
Be sure to heal and be as prepared as ever before heading upstairs and engaging in this final, ultimate boss battle.
