You'll never see it coming! Persona 5: The Animation is coming to Funimation beginning tomorrow, August 18, with English subtitles and the brand new English dub.

The popular anime streaming service teased a Persona 5: The Animation-related announcement this morning, tweeting out a photo of the signature Phantom Thieves calling card with the P5A logo in the center. Many fans quickly speculated that an announcement regarding the anime coming to the platform was on its way.

A few hours later, fans' theories were proven true, after the site officially announced that the anime adaptation of Atlus' mega-hit JRPG Persona 5 would be available to stream on their platform. The anime will be available with English subtitles and, for the first time ever, with the all-new English dub. If that wasn't exciting enough, the animation officially launches on Funimation tomorrow, August 18.

Once the show releases, Funimation will carry all 26 episodes of the anime, including two OVA's, "Dark Sun..." and "Stars and Ours."

Persona 5: The Animation released in Japan back in 2016 following the game's release. Up until this summer, the English subtitled version has been available to stream for Western audiences through Crunchyroll, with no public plans regarding an English dub. However, at the beginning of July 2020, Aniplex announced the series would be receiving an official English dub with all the main voice actors from the game returning.

While they wait for the official release in a few hours, fans can check out the English dub's official trailer from Aniplex below:

At the time of the English dub's original announcement, the only known way to watch the show with the English voice actors was to purchase Aniplex's $300 Blu-Ray box set containing all the episodes. Naturally, fans' were angered by the limited release and exorbitant price tag. Luckily, it seems they now have a much cheaper option, as Funimation's $5.99/month subscription (which includes their entire anime library of both subbed and dubbed titles) is significantly less expensive than the Blu-Ray box set.

Persona 5: The Animation premieres on Funimation beginning tomorrow, August 18, both subbed and dubbed. Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal are available now, exclusively for the PlayStation 4.
