Quick Links
SP is essential in Persona 5 Royal; this important resource is used to power your unique attacks. For example, using a fire-type attack will use a certain amount of SP. As you progress through the game, you may be finding it hard to maintain it.
In this guide, we are going to go over how to recover your SP. Recovering SP can be a bit difficult at the start of the game where resources can seem limited. First, let's take a quick look at how to conserve on SP without the use of any items. If you are playing the original Persona 5, then this guide can still apply to you! Many of these SP recovery methods apply to both Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal.
Conserving SP
In addition to obtaining SP items, you may need to conserve your existing SP. If you are unable to find any items that will recover your SP, then you will need to prioritize basic attacks.
In general, most unique skills done with a persona will consume SP. Stronger skills take more SP than weaker ones as well. Rather than defaulting to these persona skills, try to use your basic attack move and utilize your party's guns.
With strong weapons and defense, you can quickly take out an enemy without using SP. Don't forget to visit Untouchable, the weapons shop in Shibuya. Here, you can buy new weapons and guns.
This is a great method early in the game when enemies aren't too strong yet. But as you play more, enemies will become more challenging, causing you to use skills and SP.
Overall, be conservative with your SP. If you don't need to use a skill, you shouldn't.
Vending Machines
Vending machines are spread through different locations, allowing you to purchase drinks. Many vending machines sell HP restoring items. However, a few contain SP restoring items. You will not have to unlock the use of a vending machine, making them helpful early in the game.
The following items can be found in vending machines; both of them will restore 5 SP per use.
- Arginade
- Water of Rebirth
These items appear in a few different vending machines. Below, you can find each location for these items, as well as their prices. Each of these vending machines sells both items for the same price.

Vending machines only contain two of each item, which means you can easily buy all of the available stock. Thankfully, these vending machines will be restocked every Monday. Be sure to visit all these locations to maximize the amount of Arginade and Water of Rebirth you can buy.
Visiting Takemi At The Clinic
Takemi Medical Clinic will also offer three items that you can equip to recover SP. When equipped, your party will gain a certain amount of SP per turn.
This clinic can be found in Yongen-jaya, near the bottom of the map. These SP recovering items will become available once you reach Rank 5 with Takemi. In the table below, you'll find the three SP recovering items as well as how much they cost:

Cost |
---|---|
SP Adhesive 1 |
40,000 Yen |
SP Adhesive 2 |
80,000 Yen |
SP Adhesive 3 |
100,000 Yen |
Enemy Drops
Enemies will also have a chance to drop items that can recover a bit of SP. These items can either be dropped after being defeated or negotiated for, which can occur during a Hold Up. Instead of going for an all-out attack, try to negotiate with the enemy — you may get a new item from it! Be careful during these situations though; if you make an enemy mad, they may stop negotiating and attack you.
Below, you can check out the SP recovering items that can come from enemies. Every enemy has a chance to drop/give these items, regardless of location.

From Cafe Leblanc, you will be able to whip up delicious coffee and curry items that recover SP.
To make coffee, you will need at least Rank 2 with the Hierophant Confidant, Sojiro. Once you have achieved Rank 2, Sojiro will teach you how to make coffee. With Rank 4, you will also be able to cook curries in the kitchen area behind the bar.
Below, you can find every coffee and cooking recipe, as well as what they do.

Buying SP Items From Jose
Jose is a new NPC in Persona 5 Royal, who can be found in Momentos. Rather than exchanging Yen for items in Jose's shop, you will exchange stamps and flowers.
Flowers are items that you can find around Mementos. Once you find Jose, you are able to trade for a variety of goods, including a few SP recovering items.
These flowers will disappear after leaving Momentos, so be sure to spend them! When you first enter a new floor, a cutscene will appear with Jose driving by. This cutscene indicates that he can be found on the floor. If the cutscene does not happen, Jose will be unavailable.
Below, you can find the SP recovery items Jose offers, as well as how many flowers you will need.
