Atlus recently sent out its annual consumer survey, which had a question asking fans if they were interested in seeing old games ported to the Nintendo Switch. It seems that Nintendo fans turned out in droves, as Atlus has received a record number of responses to the survey.

Atlus hasn't shown as much interest in porting its older games to modern systems, which has come as a surprise to many fans, due to the growing fanbases for both the Shin Megami Tensei series and its Persona spin-off series. The company did port a couple of older games to the Nintendo 3DS (including the first localization of Soul Hackers), but fans have been surprised that games like Persona 3 and Persona 4 aren't available on Nintendo Switch, PC, or PlayStation 4.

If Atlus didn't know that fans wanted to see ports of its old games on new systems before, then it sure does now. The official Atlus Twitter page has uploaded a post saying that the 2020 consumer survey received a record number of responses.

It remains to be seen whether Atlus will actually act on this response, as porting older games isn't as simple as people might think, especially when you consider the games that were never localized. The most obvious candidates would be Persona 3 FES/Portable and Persona 4 Golden, considering the popularity of Persona 5There are also the Shin Megami Tensei games that were released on the Nintendo 3DS, many of which used the second screen for maps and menus, so there wouldn't be too much that needed to change to bring them to Switch.

The Nintendo Switch fans of the world have been frustrated by the lack of Persona 5 on the system, especially following Joker's addition to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. We can only hope that the consumer survey prompts Atlus to port some of its classic titles to modern systems, as it can be hard for people to enjoy the older games in the Persona or Shin Megami Tensei series without resorting to emulation.
