The Priestess arcana is associated with Makoto, who is notorious for being a heckin' challenge to rank up with. She requires specific skill levels before the protag can even have a one on one conversation with her, requiring more of a commitment than other confidants in the game. This isn't surprising due to her rather controlling and demanding nature, granting her the right to be in line with the Priestess arcana.

Perfectionism, leadership, and cynical judgment are what earned her the title of Queen and she lives up to both titles well. Her arcana also has some of the most impressive in the game, granting player unique abilities which make boosting her social rank all the more worth it. All hail the Queen!

10 The Priestess Arcana

It's said that the Priestess holds a wealth of knowledge and with it, power. Makoto is by far one of the most intelligent in the group as well as in the game, making this a nearly spot-on match for her personality.

Players will notice that many of the personas who also fall under this arcana are devoted to inner strength, propelled by wisdom, and may have an air of mystery about them. Those representing the Priestess arcana are likely to be guarded and quite as well, as their silent nature allows them to observe and draw conclusions before many others.

9 Silky

Silky is an interesting persona and also one that many players acquire quickly, early on in the game. She's not new to the series but previously took the form of a seal rather than a seaside woman. In folklore, it's said that she had the ability to transform from a sea-worthy animal (in this case, a seal) into a woman, hence the modern look she has in Persona 5. Her powers are respectable yet not comparable to late-game personas, but do include ice damage and status ailment cures.

8 Apsaras

Apsaras appeared as early as the second Shin Megami Tensei game, and she grants magic attacks that are useful against foes who are weak against them. Her attacks include Rebellion, Bafu, Ice Wall, Media, Electric Wall, and Wind Wall.

In addition to ice magic, she also has the ability to heal the party slightly which comes in handy in a pinch. Overall, Apsaras is a well-balanced persona but certainly not the best that the Priestess arcana has to offer.

7 Isis

As players advance in the game, they'll have the chance to obtain Isis. Many know the story of Isis as it was told in Ancient Egypt, as she was a prayer-giver to those less fortunate. She was also worshipped as the image of the perfect wife and mother, thus emphasizing the feminine strength that's so clearly obvious in the Priestess arcana. Isis is also a powerful opponent in terms of magic attacks, as she can deal electric, wind, and fire elemental damage. Sukukaja and Diarama attacks allow her to heal one party member as well as increase the agility of one.

6 Kikuri-Hime

Kikuri-Hime demonstrates the Priestess arcana better than most, as she's the true embodiment of feminine power and balance. In Japan, this dragon goddess is worshipped at Mt. Hakusan. As Shinto belief goes, she's the goddess of both meditation and negotiation, making her a powerful ally when it comes to most foes. Her attacks are not that limited and while she only has a base level of 43, she's fairly balanced in combat. Rather than being used for offensive purposes, she's best when used to support, from cure to defense.

5 Scathach

In stark contrast to Kikuri-Hime, Scathach is a formidable opponent due to her lineup of attacks. According to Scottish legend, Scathach was a warrior and teacher of martial arts. Her story goes hand in hand with the hero Cu Chulainn, and it's said that she's the one who gifted him with the Gae Bulg, his legendary spear. Scathach provides powerful physical hits as well as wind and fire damage. Alternately, she's also capable of keeping a party member alive by allowing them to sustain one fatal blow.

4 Sarasvati

Sarasvati is the Hindu goddess of art, music, and knowledge. Her role goes hand in hand with the other Hindu god-inspired personas in the game, and she's intended to be a male consort to Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, along with goddesses Parvati and Lakshmi. Similar to several others on this list, Sarasvati isn't the strongest when it comes to physical attacks, but does lend a powerful advantage when it comes to inflicting status ailments on foes and curing them on allies. She can also restore the HP of a party member fully, making her useful to prevent a fallen party member.

3 Skadi

Skadi is the Norse goddess of snow and ice, well-known for unleashing unrelenting blizzards and storms. She also married Odin, becoming known as 'Old Goddess'. She's responsible for the hunt and unleashes powerful ice attacks in battle. Part of the reason she's so powerful is due to her unique ability to inflict fear on a foe, followed by Lamentation of the Dead, which kills any foes who have Fear status on them. This is highly effective for those at a lower level, as there are few moves needed to accomplish it and it's effective against susceptible enemies.

2 Cybele

Finally, the strongest of all the Priestess personas, Cybele. This persona is only available once a player has completely maxed out Makoto's social rank, but it's well worth it. Cybele was known as the protector of Athens in addition to several other city-states.

While very similar to other personas in the sense that most of her attacks at status-related and magic-boosting, they are quite clever. They're also powerful, allowing players to boost attacks, restore full HP to every party member, and administer significant Bless damage to enemies.

1 Confidant: Makoto Nijima

The Persona games tend to follow a pattern when it comes to arcanas and the characters who share them. Makoto shares the Priestess arcana with characters such as Yukiko and Fuuka, and long-time players of the series will undoubtedly pick up on the subtle similarities. Each one was stubborn in their own right but also highly intelligent, wise, and passionate.
