Persona 5 Royal has been on PC since 2022, meaning it is no longer locked to the PlayStation console as an exclusive. With the launch on PC, mods have slowly been released by the modding community, adding custom changes and much-needed quality-of-life tweaks to the social sim JRPG.

Installing mods for Persona 5 Royal on PC is extremely easy and you can find a whole selection of fantastic mods on GameBanana. Whether you want to change some of the music, or outfits, or make some quality-of-life tweaks to the overall experience, these mods are great for a first-time playthrough, but they almost become necessary for any subsequent playthroughs.

10 P5R Female Protagonist By Chlorophylls

Persona 5 Royal - Modded screenshot shows Joker as a female

This recently-released mod has done something we've all wanted Atlus to do for years: to change the P5 protagonist to a female. While this was done in P3P, many people were disappointed to discover that the Royal expansion didn't have a female MC option. This mod rectifies this and changes Joker to a woman.

This extensive mod has new outfits for Joker, animations, textures, voice lines, and several changes to the base gameplay experience. The mod changes Joker's avatar on the overworld and in battles and Palaces. While it has been released out of a work-in-progress, there are more changes to come to this mod, but it's worth downloading to see how it plays. Grab it on GameBanana.

9 Persona 5: Investigation Team By MadMax1960

P4 in P5R, anyone? This complete character overhaul mod for Persona 5 Royal changes the main cast of characters to the ones from Persona 4 Golden. This mod is a massive undertaking and it has been released as a work-in-progress, meaning updates are being added while the author adds to it.

This mod changes everything other than voice lines. Models have been imported, bust-ups have been changed, and so have Personas. If you couldn't get enough of the P4 cast, this mod brings them into the world of P5, in fully-realised 3D models that weren't possible on the Vita. Download the mod from GameBanana.

8 No Darkened Faces By Haalyle

Persona 5 Royal - Modded screenshot shows no dark faces over Yusuke using Personas

When you summon your Persona in battles in Persona 5, you might notice that they hold their mask up to their face. During the animation that plays, the player's face has a dark mask covering it, darkening and covering their faces. This mod removes that shading or the dark mask that appears, giving the characters a cleaner look during combat.

Ultimately, this mod is purely a visual change and if the dark masks don't bother you, you won't need this. We think it makes the character models shine through better, giving us a better look at their faces while in fights. These masks never appear outside of combat, either, so it does a lot of continuity. Grab the mod from GameBanana

7 Ambush BGM Expansion By Kekulism

Persona 5 Royal - Modded screenshot shows the costume menu, indicating DLC music tied to each outfit

One of the best things about Persona 5 Royal is the music. It's such a shame, then, that you don't get to experience much of it when you're fighting through Palaces unless you're using various costumes. Even with these costumes, the music is limited to one track, stifling the variation.

This mod changes that, giving you two different BGMs per DLC costume. These songs will change based on whether you start a fight with an ambush or through a regular attack. While it's only one more track, having different Persona music blast through your speakers while raiding Palaces or Mementos makes the game infinitely better. Do your ears a favour and download this mod from GameBanana.

6 Always Dodge Chalk By Delish

Persona 5 - Joker sits in the classroom in Shujin Academy

This mod is for those who have saved and reloaded seemingly an unending number of times. The mod, always dodge chalk, does exactly what it says. Joker will never be shamefully hit in the head by a slab of chalk while he's not paying attention in class.

In case you didn't know, your Charm stat will increase by a few points if you dodge the chalk. In the base game, dodging the chalk is entirely up to RNG, and removing that factor means you'll net yourself more Charm throughout the game and make it easier to max out. Get the mod from GameBanana.

5 No RNG When Crafting: The Royal By Meovvcat

Persona 5 Royal - Modded screenshot shows Joker crafting infiltration tools in his bedroom

Another mod for you efficiency-motivated gamers, this mode removes the RNG bonus you get from crafting infiltration tools. When you craft, you can get more Proficiency points, ultimately adding more to your social stats. If you've read any guide for Persona 5, you'll know that most of them advocate for save-scumming for this RNG proficiency increase to trigger.

Do yourself a favour and save yourself from the perils and loading screens that come with save-scumming. Your proficiency will increase the maximum it can from one crafting session, meaning you can spend more time doing more important things later in the game. Download it from GameBanana.

4 Negotiation Cheat Sheet By NineNates

Persona 5 Royal - Modded screenshot shows the answers to Negotiating with Shadows as Joker talks to them

Cheatsheet mods are extremely helpful in Persona 5, and this is especially true when it comes to negotiating with Shadows. If you were frustrated with the dialogue options and having to pay attention to the Shadow type to find the right answer, then this mod will be one of your favourites.

Based on the behaviour of the Shadow, the dialogue option that corresponds to its type, such as Upbeat, Timid, and so on, will be marked with U or T respectively. Sometimes there's crossover and you'll see multiple letters next to dialogue options. Just pick the one that the first letter of the specific Shadow's type begins with and you will never fail a negotiation again. Grab it from GameBanana

3 Shut Up, Sae! By Wisteria

Persona 5 Player and Sae in interrogation

Do you know how you have an extremely obtrusive cutscene from Sae in the interrogation room whenever you unlock a new Confidant? Well, this mod removes the pause and lets you unlock the confidant seamlessly.

We don't recommend this mod for a first playthrough since her dialogue does add a lot of flavour to the overall story, but whenever we replay the game and have to see these cutscenes for every confidant unlocked, it hits diminishing returns in a big way. Download it from GameBanana

2 Classroom And Confidant Cheat Sheet By Haalyle

Persona 5 Royal - Modded screenshot shows the answers to Confidant hangouts with Ann and Ryuji

Arguably the best quality-of-life mod for anyone who has played through P5 before. We've all been there, frequently pausing mid-conversation with our Confidants to check online for the dialogue option that gives us the best reaction from our friends. It's hard to measure the helpfulness of this mod, especially when saving time while playing.

During conversations, you will see the correct dialogue option that rewards the most points with a plus symbol. There is no need to cross-reference the information or google it; this mod does it all for you, and you won't ever need multiple tabs on the go. The point indicator assumes you have a matching Persona of the confidant's arcana. Download the mod from GameBanana.

1 P5R: Custom Bonus Tweaks By DeathChaos

Persona 5 Royal - Modded screenshot shows Makoto wearing her midwinter uniform in combat

This mod is possibly the most extensive one released for P5R so far. It's as comprehensive as impressive, bringing about several fabulous changes in one easy-to-install mod package. The mod author, DeathChaos, created it by reverse-engineering tons of the game's code.

It would be difficult to list all the changes this mod makes, but some of the highlights include keeping character costumes during pre-rendered cutscenes, letting Futuba's outfit persist in her All Out Attack animation, new voice lines for Joker, new challenge battles, and new costumes added. For all these additions and more, grab this wonderful mod from GameBanana.
