Persona 5 Royal is one of the most popular games of 2020. With a mix of content, both old and new, there is plenty to enjoy in this modern masterpiece's definitive edition. With fantastic combat, excellent characters, and a revolutionary soundtrack, this latest entry in the Persona series has stolen fans' hearts, new and old.
One of the most popular aspects of the Persona series is the option to romance one of several characters while playing through the campaign. One of these options is the holder of the Fortune Arcana, Chihaya Mifune. Those interested in grabbing the heart of this fortune teller will want to note several suggestions that will make this easy.
Play the Game Normally Until 6/22
Unlike several other romance options in Persona 5 Royal, Chihaya won't be available for some time. Those interested in winning her over will have to wait until the end of June, as this will be when she appears in Shinjuku.
In the meantime, players should focus on the following activities.
- Defeat the first three bosses, completing their palaces (Kamoshida, Madarame, and Kaneshiro.)
- Visit Mementos and unlock as much of the optional dungeon as possible.
- Bond with fellow members of the Phantom Thieves, as each character has rewards locked within their Arcana.
- Increase Joker's Social Stats with remaining free time.
Meet Chihaya in Shinjuku at Night
After the specified date has passed, take a trip over to Shinjuku during the evening. Make sure not to head into the Metaverse beforehand, as it will force Joker to stay indoors.
Starting Chihaya's link is a time-consuming task, and Joker will need to visit her on three separate nights before rank 1 even begins. Keep in mind that Chihaya is only available on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, meaning this first level will take close to a week to complete. For the first visit, Joker will speak to Chihaya. This is simple enough, but remember this is step one in unlocking her Arcana.
Save Up Some Cash
Chihaya is one of the few confidants that requires some capital to progress. Making sure Joker has saved up a substantial sum beforehand will make this task much smoother, so make sure to stash some money away for the following meeting with Chihaya. There are plenty of ways to make money in Persona 5 Royal, but these are some effective methods:
- Visit Jose in Mementos and focus on the money drop rate in the cognition tab.
- Fight enemies in Mementos, bargaining for money whenever possible. (Unlocking the Sun Arcana's Diplomacy and Fundraising abilities will increase the payout.)
- Work a part-time job to increase social stats while gaining some capital.
- Selling treasure, unneeded gear, and weapons at the Airsoft Shop
Purchase The "Holy Stone" For 100,000 Yen
Upon his next visit, Chihaya will claim that her "Holy Stone" can ward off Joker's problems. This may seem suspicious, but the next step to unlocking Chihaya's Arcana requires that Joker buys this "Holy Stone" from her for 100,000 yen.
This is where Joker's stockpiled funds will come in handy. Purchase the item to part with a hefty sum and head home for the day. After Joker and Morgana have a conversation, they'll agree to come back later and ask about this stone and why it's so expensive.
Acquire And Complete "Ending the Boyfriend's Abuse" Mission
On the next visit to Shinjuku, Joker will participate in one of Chihaya's fortune readings. She claims that an abusive boyfriend will hurt his partner and that this fate cannot be changed, but thanks to the Phantom Thieves' power, Joker can force a heart change. After getting a name from Chihaya, slate some time out to head to Mementos to complete "Ending the Boyfriend's Abuse."
This boss can be found in Mementos' Path of Chemdah: Area 3. At a C level difficulty, players shouldn't have too much trouble with this request. Once this is finished, return to Chihaya to formally start a contract between the two.
Visit Chihaya Regularly For Verification Tests
With the strenuous process of unlocking Chihaya's Fortune Arcana out of the way, Joker can visit her any of the four days that she's available. Choose to do a verification test when Joker meets her, as this will progress her social status with the Phantom Thieves' leader.

Give Chihaya Gifts
Until rank 8, players will be able to interact with Chihaya without interruption. There'll likely be a time where Joker will have to meet multiple times to progress a single level with so many ranks. To avoid this issue, make sure to have a gift on hand that Chihaya will enjoy. Here are some of the things she likes:
- +2 Social Points: Book Cover, Custard Cake, Classical Hits, All-Purpose Vitamins, Flower Basket, Glass Vase, Local Mascot Set, Digital Camera, Face Beautifier, Super Noisy Alarm Clock
- +3 Social Points: Star Mirror, Robot Vacuum
Complete The "Debunking the Psychic" Mementos Request
Chihaya will eventually inform Joker of a problematic boss. At rank 8, Chihaya will have another Mementos request that Joker and company must complete before progressing further. Head to Path of Kaitul: Area 3 in Mementos to take on the rotten psychic that's tormenting Chihaya to complete her final stopgap. This request has a C rank difficulty so the Phantom Thieves shouldn't struggle too much here. Once done, head back to Chihaya with an update to complete rank 8.
Choose "So I Can Be With You" For Response 3 of Rank 9
Chihaya will eventually inform Joker of a problematic boss. At rank 8, Chihaya will have another Mementos request that Joker and company must complete before progressing further. Head to Path of Kaitul: Area 3 in Mementos to take on the rotten psychic that's tormenting Chihaya to complete her final stopgap. This request also has a C rank difficulty and should present little challenge to the Phantom Thieves. Once done, head back to Chihaya with an update to complete rank 8.
