Ann Takamaki is one of the first Phantom Thieves you recruit in Persona 5 Royal. When Joker, Ryuji, and Morgana storm in to change the heart of Suguru Kamoshida, a power-hungry and abusive volleyball coach at Shujin Academy, Ann finds the strength to step up and join them.
Throughout your time in Tokyo, you can bolster Ann's confidant in Persona 5 Royal to make her even more powerful in combat, too. Below is our guide to Ann’s confidant in Persona 5 Royal — as spoiler-free as possible.

Availability And Perks
When Joker heads back into Kamoshida's palace with Ryuji on 4/15, Ann secretly follows them and ends up awakening her persona. Because of this, Ann's confidant in Persona 5 Royal begins on 4/15 as well.
Ann can be found in the Shibuya Underground Mall most days. Ann is available to hang out with after school on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. She'll be at the mall on Sunday during the day, too, as well as any time it's raining.
As with the rest of the confidants in Persona 5 Royal, Ann's confidant ranking up will give her new abilities at almost every rank. As a Phantom Thief, the abilities she gains through your friendship are all applicable in battle.

Ranking Up
Each time you grow closer with Ann, her Confidant ranking in Persona 5 Royal will level up. As with the rest of your confidants, having a Persona in Joker's party of the same arcana as who you're spending time with will reliably increase his points gained by one point for each answer.
Additionally, you'll earn extra points for scoring high on the school exams. Scoring highest in your class boosts your affinity points by 1.5x, while landing in the top ten will give a 1.2x multiplier instead. These stack with the bonus given for having a corresponding Persona, so make ample use of your free time after doing well on tests.

This event occurs on 4/15 to begin Ann's confidant in Persona 5 Royal. The dialogue choice has no effect. Ann will be registered as a confidant after this event, where you'll then need to choose to hang out with her.

Additional Hangouts With Ann
Every so often, Ann will text Joker to ask him to hang out outside your confidant ranking progression with her. Though the extra hangouts cannot rank Ann up, you'll still build affinity points with her during them. Replying to her texts immediately gives you 1.2x the affinity points, and your other bonuses listed above still apply as well.
Studying At The Shibuya Diner
There are a handful of times you can study with Ann at the Shibuya Diner. Each time you do, you'll receive +1 to Ann's confidant rank if you don't have a Lovers Persona on you for either response. If you do have a Lovers Persona on you, you get +2 boost instead for either response.
In addition to building Ann's rank, regardless of whether you've got a Persona with the same arcana, this will also increase your Knowledge stat by +3 each time.
Praying At Meiji Shrine
This event unlocks the Meiji Shrine location on your subway map, but it can only be accessed if you finished Futaba's Palace before 8/4. In addition to a Lovers Persona, you'll also want a Death Persona as well, as Tae Takemi makes an appearance here, too.

In September, your class takes a trip to Hawaii, and if you're in a romantic relationship with Ann, you can choose to enjoy a date together on vacation.
If you're not keeping one in your party, be sure to grab a Lovers Persona on 9/6 before leaving for the trip, as you cannot access the Velvet Room on vacation.
