Persona 5 Royal introduces the ability to enhance and teach skills to your teammates' personae, allowing for a greater freedom in party composition. This mechanic works via inviting your teammates for non-alcoholic cocktails at a jazz club located in Kichijoji.

Jazz Jin, the venue in question, can be located once Kichijoji is unlocked via a story-related outing with Ryuji on 6/5. You can’t start calling your friends up for drinks immediately, however— you have to unlock the ability to enter the club via the rank 4 event of the Justice confidant.

Once Akechi introduces you to the venue, you can visit freely and call up whoever you’d like. It’s only open at night, and the cover is 3000 yen for both you and your friend.

Stat Boosts And Skills

The jazz club serves a different cocktail for every day of the week, all with different effects on your teammate’s persona.

Monday:

  • Level Upper: Body - One level up, max HP increased by 20

Tuesday:

  • Powerful Soda - 4 points allocated at random to Strength, Endurance, and Luck (no level up)

Wednesday:

  • Level Upper: Soul - One level up, max SP increased by 10

Thursday:

  • Magical Soda - 4 points allocated at random to Magic, Agility, and Luck (no level up)

Friday:

  • All Soda - Every stat upped by 1 point each, max HP increased by 10, max SP by 5

Saturday:

  • One of the weekday cocktails on a weekly rotating basis

Sunday:

  • Original Cocktail - Teaches a new skill

While Saturday’s menu is simply one of the weekday cocktails, the weekly rotation does not pause because you didn’t visit on a Saturday as is the case with the Sunday Aojiru. As such, the rotation for Saturdays are as follows:

  • Level Upper: Body - 6/25, 8/6, 9/24, 11/5, 12/10
  • Powerful Soda - 7/2, 8/13, 10/1, 11/12, 1/14
  • Level Upper: Soul - 7/9, 8/20, 10/8, 11/19, 1/21
  • Magical Soda - 7/16, 8/27, 10/15, 11/26, 1/28
  • All Soda - 7/30, 9/3, 10/22, 12/3, 12/17

Another thing worth noting is that if the invited teammate has a maxed out stat (including boosts from equipment), the points allocated from the Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday cocktails will simply be moved to the other eligible stats. For example, if you bring Ryuji on Tuesday night when he has 99 Strength, he will simply receive 4 points in Endurance and Luck at random.

Additionally, there are certain nights where a singer is booked for a live performance: these nights double the increase accrued from the cocktail. The live performance dates are:

  • July: Mon. 4th / Tues. 12th / Thurs. 28th / Fri. 29th
  • August: Mon. 1st / Tues. 9th / Wed. 17th / Thurs. 25th
  • September: Mon. 5th / Wed. 21st / Thurs. 22nd / Fri. 30th
  • October: Mon. 3rd (Only available if you’ve sent the calling card to Okumura on 10/2 and cleared the palace on 10/3 and are able to call Kawakami for a massage)
  • November: Mon. 7th / Tues. 8th / Wed. 16th
  • December: Mon. 5th / Tues. 13th / Thurs. 22nd
  • January: Wed. 18th / Thurs. 26th

We strongly recommend attending live performances on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, as the stat boosts from the cocktails will be doubled.

Learning Skills On Sunday Nights

As mentioned, Sundays serve up Original Cocktails that teach your teammate a new skill that they might not otherwise have learned. The skills are limited to support skills, and tend to simply rotate until later in the game when more powerful, unique skills become available. Still, if you want one of your teammates to share the support role with you they’re worth checking out:

Tetrakarn

  • Raises a barrier on one ally that reflects one physical attack
  • Available on 6/26 and 10/2
  • (Noir’s persona learns this skill naturally at level 38)

Matarukaja

  • Raises the attack power of all allies for three turns
  • Available on 7/3 and 10/9
  • (Skull’s persona learns this skill naturally at level 58)

Marakukaja

  • Raises the defense of all allies for three turns
  • Available on 7/17 and 10/16
  • (Queen’s persona learns this skill naturally at level 48)

Masukukaja

  • Raises the speed/evasion of all allies for three turns
  • Available on 7/31 and 10/23
  • (Fox’s persona learns this skill naturally at level 49)

Matarunda

  • Lowers the attack power of all enemies for three turns
  • Available on 8/7 and 11/6
  • (Panther’s persona learns this skill naturally at level 41)

Marakunda

  • Lowers the defense of all enemies for three turns
  • Available on 8/14 and 11/13

Masukunda

  • Lowers the speed/evasion rate of all enemies for three turns
  • Available on 8/28 and 11/27

Charge

  • Raises the effectiveness of a physical attack on your next turn by 2.5 times.
  • Available only on 9/4
  • (Skull’s persona learns this skill naturally at level 63)

Concentration

  • Raises the effectiveness of a magic attack on your next turn by 2.5 times
  • Available only on 9/25
  • (Panther’s persona learns this skill naturally at level 62)

Makarakarn

  • Raises a barrier on one ally that reflects one magic attack
  • Available only on 10/30
  • (Noir’s persona learns this skill naturally at level 44)

Heat Riser

  • Raises the attack, defense, and speed/evasion of one ally for three turns
  • Available only on 12/4
  • (Noir’s persona learns this skill naturally at level 75)

Debilitate

  • Lowers the attack, defense, and speed/evasion of one enemy for three turns
  • Available only on 12/11
  • (Crow’s first persona learns this skill naturally at level 70, his second persona knows this skill innately)

Ali Dance

  • (Passive) Automatically halves the accuracy of incoming attacks
  • Available only on 1/15
  • (Violet’s persona knows this skill innately)

Arms Master

  • (Passive) Halves the HP cost of physical skills
  • Available only on 1/22

Spell Master

  • (Passive) Halves the SP cost of magic skills
  • Available only on 1/29 (the final Original Cocktail of the game)

Enhancing Futaba’s Skills

Of course, Futaba’s persona can’t learn any of these skills much less use them— so when you bring her along for a Sunday cocktail, her existing skills are boosted instead. The effects depend on how many times you invite her on Sunday, regardless of the actual skill on offer that night:

  • 1st visit: Teaches Support Boost 1, which has a chance of inflicting Masukunda during Moral Support
  • 2nd visit: Upgrades Support Boost 1 to Support Boost 2, which has a chance of inflicting Masukunda or Marakunda during Moral Support
  • 3rd visit: Upgrades to Support Boost 3, which now has a chance of inflicting Masukunda, Marakunda, or Matarunda during Moral Support.
  • 4th visit: Teaches Support Frequency Up, which increases the trigger rate for Moral Support.
