Persona 5 The Royal: Atlus Is Hosting A "Newcomer" Livestream For Potential New Fans

Interested in playing Persona 5, but intimidated and confused by all the hype? Don't worry! Atlus is hosting a special Persona 5 Royal livestream just for new fans.

On September 27 at 8:00 PM Japan Standard Time, Atlus will be hosting the official "Let’s Players Gathering! Persona 5 Royal Newcomer Preparation Special". This livestream is aimed for those who may be interested in the Persona series, but have yet to play it themselves. Interested fans can watch the broadcast on YouTube.

According to the livestream's official announcement on the Persona Channel news site, the broadcast will answer questions such as, "What is Persona 5?" and "Where can I start the Persona series from?"

The broadcast will also feature some Persona 5 Let’s Players, such as Belle, Komichin, Nega Honkyochi, Sepia, and more still to be announced. The event will be hosted by Yoshiyuki Hirai, of Japan's comedy duo "America Zarigani" fame. Additionally, the broadcast will feature special guest Enako, the most famous cosplayer in Japan. Fans have speculated she'll be cosplaying as Kasumi Yoshizawa, a brand new Phantom Thief set to appear in Persona 5 Royal.

The livestream announcement comes a little over a month out from the release of Persona 5 Royal, an enhanced version of the critically acclaimed Persona 5 RPG that was released for the PlayStation 4 nearly three years ago on September 15, 2016. The original game was the sixth installment in the widely popular Persona series, a spinoff series of the Megami Tensei franchise.

Persona 5 followed a young protagonist as he transferred to Tokyo's Shujin Academy after being put on probation due to being falsely accused of physical assault against a drunk man. Over the next year, he and his friends awaken to special powers and form The Phantom Thieves of Hearts - a secret group determined to steal the distorted desires of the adults in power around them. This new version, Persona 5 Royal, will feature both old and new content, including a brand new palace, new characters, social interactions, plot lines, and music. Trailers and footage from the new game have already been released, including a brand new opening sequence.

Persona 5 Royal will be available in Japan for the PlayStation 4 beginning October 31, 2019, and in the West on an unspecified date in spring 2020.
