Pharaoh A New Era takes cheating to the next level. Not only do some of the old cheat codes still work, much to the delight of dancing hippo fans, but many are added to a brand-new menu that lets you truly customize your maps.
10 Differences Between Pharaoh And Pharaoh: A New Era
More than 20 years after the original's release, Pharaoh: A New Era sometimes feels like a totally different game.Cheats can be used on any and all maps, including campaigns, but not all cheats will be useful on every level. In this guide we take a look at how to enable cheats, the new menu, and everything you can change using this system.
Updated on September 29, 2023, By Helen Ashcroft: We've updated this list to bring you even more cheat codes for those to like to cheat old-school style.
How To Enable Cheats
The cheat menu can feel slightly invasive so as a default it is turned off. To enable cheats you need to open the settings menu, select: Gameplay > Cheatcodes > Yes and then hit confirm.
You'll know it's worked since below the Encyclopedia icon on the left-hand side menu will be a vibrant pink exclamation mark. If you don't see it right away, save your map and then reload.
Left-clicking the exclamation mark icon will display the Cheats Menu.
Customising Your Game Experience
Down the left-hand side of the menu is a range of options that affect how your city will run. Here's everything you can change and the effect it will have on your city.

All these settings are separate, and you can turn them on and off to ensure the type of gameplay you want. Alongside the difficulty level adjustment, these should allow you to tailor your experience in order to overcome any difficulties you encounter along the way. You'll find these cheats most useful in creating a custom sandbox experience.
Pharaoh A New Era: Guide To Food And Farming
This farming guide for Pharaoh A New Era covers crops, food supplies, and keeping your citizens well-fed.Completing Missions And Achievements With Cheats
Alongside the permanent cheat menu are very specific options you are more likely to use in campaign mode. If you are finding a mission too difficult you can instantly win the mission by pressing the big green Win Mission button. Bizarrely, you can also select to lose the mission, should you so desire.
This will instantly display a Victory screen, allowing you to progress to the next level. It will not affect your city in any other way, nor will it set any of the city stats to reflect the usual victory conditions. It simply overrides them.
Below this is an Achievements menu. Here you can scroll down the list of achievements and see every single one in the game. Each one has an add and unlock button next to it which you can use to ding the achievements. You can also reset them if you want to start again.
Resetting will remove all your earned Achievements from Steam or GOG.
If you prefer to complete levels with just a little help you can also finish the current monument, saving a lot of time and resources on this often-required condition. To do this you'll need to place down the base of the monument. You can then select it from the drop-down menu on the right-hand side, just above the Achievements. The buttons next to this allow you to complete the current step or the entire monument.
Overriding City Issues
The other options in this part of the menu allow you to combat a couple of common city issues. By default, you will be on the Action Tab, which is where the Achievement and Mission settings are. These are the other options you'll find.
Action Tab
Each god in the game is named here, and you can adjust the values in the boxes next to their names to change the sentiment level. This is a fast way to stop the oncoming wrath of an angry god.
You can also adjust the amount of debens in your treasury to solve any debt issues at a push of a button. There are options to both add and remove money, so you can always lend yourself some cash if you are in a temporary bind, without affecting city sentiment.
You can also send out your armies to attack, or override the game speed in a more precise way on this Action Tab menu.
Event Tab
If you click the event tab there is a second menu that lets you change the event settings and trigger or fulfill requests. This tab is fairly straightforward to use once you have got your head around the event types. Simply use the drop-down menus to customise the settings and gain yourself some goodwill, fast.
Cheat Codes For Pharaoh A New Era
If you wish to cheat using the old-fashioned way you still can, although not all codes from the original work. Simply press:
Ctrl + Alt + Shift + C
This will bring up the cheat code box. Here, you can enter a cheat code without having to have cheats activated in the main menu. These are the cheats that still work, assuming the map supports them.
Some maps, especially missions, block certain cheats. Most cheats also only work if specific gods are worshiped. We've added these conditions where known.
