Some extremely astute players appear to have discovered a discrete reference to PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale in the recently released God of War Ragnarok. The allusion can be heard in a few lines of dialog between Kratos and Mimir.The news comes by way of the user on Twitter going by TheCardinalArts who posted a short video showing the exchange. “Brother, I’ve heard my share of stories about your homeland,” the severed head can be heard saying. “But I’ve also heard that you once fought in a tournament.”“I’ve fought in many contests,” Kratos replies. Mimir goes on to describe how "this particular one, I heard you did battle with beasts, scoundrels, princesses, the undead, automatons, and history’s greatest musician. That’s not true, is it?” Kratos eloquently explains that “I would not speak of this.” Mimir finishes by saying “fair enough, brother.”PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is a crossover fighting game released on November 20, 2012. The title was developed by SuperBot Entertainment and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. The brawler features a variety of different characters from franchises owned by PlayStation including Sly Cooper, Nathan Drake, Fat Princess, Dante, Big Daddy, and PaRappa. In other words, beats, scoundrels, princesses, the undead, automatons, and history’s greatest musician. Kratos can also be found in the game.
While the game received mixed reviews after launch, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale went on to become something of a cult classic, becoming beloved by a strong community of fans and followers. The average player however was not particularly impressed, poor performance in terms of sales resulting in the cancellation of downloadable content in addition to a planned sequel. The multiplayer components and gameplay mechanics were on the other hand widely praised.
