PlayStation has confirmed that it is holding a showcase at the end of the month on May 24. During this hour-long presentation, it will take the lid off some of its upcoming titles starting at 1 PM PDT.

PlayStation didn't provide an itinerary, but there are plenty of rumors of what we can expect from the upcoming showcase. Most recently, games journalist Jeff Grubb suggested we'd see PlayStation show itself on the "week of May 25," while Andy Robinson of VGC suggested Konami will be front and center.

A long-rumored Metal Gear Solid 3 remake could be the first of Konami's games, with various sources stating it will use this remake to test the waters for more remakes across the series. We could also see a new Castlevania game announced following its success with the Dead Cells crossover, and an update on Konami's multiple Silent Hill projects, including its Silent Hill 2 remake.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is also likely to make an appearance. We haven't heard much about it yet, with the only major piece of marketing being a now-memefied still of Miles Morales and Peter Parker in their respective costumes. What we do know is that it's a PS5 exclusive and features both Venom and Kraven, though we've yet to see gameplay. With any luck, the upcoming showcase will change that, and clue us into what Spider-Man 2 will actually look like when we get our hands on it.

Another game PlayStation might pair with its showcase is the new Mortal Kombat. What was once Mortal Kombat 12 is now increasingly looking like a reboot of the franchise, with a recent teaser depicting a clock skipping 12 and going back to one. Since then, NetherRealm co-founder and studio head Ed Boom has been relentlessly teasing fans on Twitter, promising more information while also providing clues for fans to pour over ahead of yet more teasers.

Mortal Kombat 12 (or 1) is expected to arrive later this year, and it could possibly include the likes of Homelander, Peacemaker, and Conan the Barbarian as post-launch guest characters. A reveal at PlayStation's Showcase would be excellent timing for the classic fighting game franchise.

Besides that, we could see yet more of Final Fantasy 16 or Street Fighter 6 ahead of their June releases, and Armored Core 6 is still waiting in the wings with an August release date. We'll find out more when PlayStation's broadcast begins on Wednesday, May 24 at 1 PM PT (4 PM ET).
