PlayStation returns wth an all-new State of Play later this week for the first time in two months. Other than more information regarding the upcoming PlayStation VR 2, which will hopefully be here sometime in 2023, everything else on the docket for this week's presentation is currently up to rumor, speculation, and guesswork. However, it appears Sony has now confirmed the State of Play will technically be a part of this year's Summer Game Fest.

The subtle tweak to the graphic advertising Thursday's State of Play was highlighted by Nibellion. The reposted ad now features the Summer Game Fest logo in the top left-hand corner, as you can see in the tweet below. The presentation has also been added to the slate on the Summer Game Fest website. That's despite Summer Game Fest not officially kicking off until 2 pm EST on June 9.

While a vast majority of the big announcements from Summer Game Fest will be taking place during its kickoff presentation, and now the State of Play a week prior, the festival isn't confined to those two events alone. A number of shows taking place across the entirety of next weekend, which was originally set aside for E3 before it was canceled, have already been announced, including a joint Xbox-Bethesda showcase on Sunday, June 12.

As for what you can expect from Sony's State of Play, again, that is currently down to guesswork. There are quite a few educated guesses out there though, as well as some rumors that seem likely to come true. A first proper look at Street Fighter 6 seems likely, as does the reveal of when we can expect Final Fantasy 16 to arrive.

There's also a strong chance God of War Ragnarok gets a release date. A PS Plus leak claims the first game will be free to subscribers next month, further hinting that the final pieces for its sequel's arrival are being put into place. Merch spotted online has also hinted at a September launch. For potential Ragnarok news and everything else Sony's next State of Play has to offer, tune into the presentation from 6 pm EST this coming Thursday.
