"My latest supply chain check suggests that the assembler and several component providers of the PlayStation VR 2 will start mass production with about 1.5 million unit shipments in the second half of 2022,” Analyst at TF International Securities Ming-Chi Kuo said on Twitter back in May. "Sony may launch it in the first quarter of 2023, depending on the development schedule of PlayStation VR 2 game titles.”The analyst noted how "I believe PlayStation VR 2 will have a good start thanks to the support of more than 20 game titles from first and third-party developers at launch. Chief Executive Officer at Sony Interactive Entertainment Jim Ryan previously noted how the company plans to launch more than 20 games alongside the PlayStation VR 2. "There is a considerable amount of money being spent on partnerships with independent and other third-party developers to secure a considerable pipeline of attractive VR content at the launch of the PlayStation VR2,” the executive remarked. “That energy, that effort, and that money will continue to grow as the installed base of PlayStation VR 2 headsets grows.”
