You never know where and when a meme might be birthed, and one of the best examples would be found in the Pokémon games which gave us the “It’s been 3,000 years” meme. The scene in question was originally seen when the character of AZ was reunited with the Floette Pokémon.

When he proclaimed that it had been that long since he’d seen Floette, thousands of memes arrived referring to situations where they had similar feelings. Since the meme’s inception, there have been many hilarious ones we’ve seen, and here are 10 of them that might be too funny to put in words.

9 When The Time Finally Comes

It’s a well-known fact that the internet has brought with it pirated copies of movies that people download to watch for free. However, some of these people have higher standards and don’t settle for bootlegged quality.

Instead, they wait until the Blu-ray release before going for the pirated version, and it’s obvious the person behind this meme is one of them. Since it takes nearly six months for the Blu-ray version to be out, you have to feel somewhat for this person to have to wait so long for their chance.

8 We've All Been There

It’s kind of a drag to have to talk to relatives you’re not close to, but parents force children to talk to these relatives regardless. When the inevitable conversation does take place, it feels as if years have passed since you’ve been on the phone.

For this reason we wholeheartedly agree with this meme, as having to talk face-to-face to distant relatives really does exaggerate the reluctant conversation. It might not be exactly 3,000 years, but it sure as heck feels that way.

7 Remember That Wait?

There’s no context required to understand this meme, as the wait for Avengers: Endgame is legendary. Gamers were also made to wait for the Avengers game for nearly a decade too, so everybody seems to know how torturous it was.

The film, in particular, seemed to have been in development for an extremely long time, with the other MCU films only feeling like filler in comparison. The funny thing is that Endgame had another thing to do with the number 3,000, so maybe this meme was just foreshadowing what we found within the film.

6 Earn That Award, Leo

Before Leonardo DiCaprio finally broke his streak of Oscar losses, his fans had made a number of memes poking fun at this fact. So, you can understand the craze that went about when he finally did manage to get that Oscar.

A Pokémon fan summed it up best using this meme, as we see Leo being the title character of the picture and the award being handed to him. After a losing streak that went back two decades, he surely did deserve to be put into this meme.

5 About Time, Ash

All of us who were the first ones to watch the anime series grew up by the time Ash finally got his hands on a winners trophy. There were a lot of jokes made at Ash’s expense, but this meme celebrated his accomplishment while also making fun of it.

Here, the Pokémon fandom can finally take heart from the fact that we’re laughing at Ash actually winning something rather than once again coming up short. He might never win again, so let’s all appreciate this one victory for all it’s worth.

4 Fallout Fans Will Remember

If you’re a fan of the Fallout series then there’s no doubt you’ve just let out a big chuckle. After all, the direct sequel took almost a decade to release and fans were dying for more. Fallout 3 had seen its arrival in 2008, a full seven years before Fallout 4.

Speaking in video gaming terms, there were at least three Naughty Dog games, a few GTA games, and most of the Batman: Arkham games released during this time. Not only that, but we’d arrived in the eight generation of consoles as well. So, yeah, it truly felt like 3,000 years had passed.

3 About Time

Gamescon is the biggest gaming event in the world, and kids love getting a kick out of it as well. Unfortunately for the younger fans, they don’t have the money to purchase tickets, so a lot of them rely on winning them.

Even worse is the fact that winning a ticket is easier said than done, as thousands of people are in line to do the exact same thing. It appears the person who made the meme finally got their chance, as they compare it not only to winning it after 3,000 years of waiting, but also receiving it in such a way that the tickets might seem like the holy grail.

2 No Victory Is Sweeter

Something that’s even more difficult to do than catching Pokémon is trying to swat a fly that’s been pestering you. This is something every person in the world has gone through, since there’s always that one fly that keeps bugging relentlessly.

And there’s also a certain sense of accomplishment when that particular fly does meet its end, which is something the creator of this meme surely felt. It appears the satisfaction was so great that they felt the need to compare it with the feeling someone in the Pokémon world would have after catching one.

1 The Reunion We All Wanted

Fans loved the Detective Pikachu movie so much that it became the best-reviewed film based on a game, but an even greater cause for celebration had arrived in the anime. After a decade without Ash’s original companions, we finally got Misty and Brock back.

Those of us who remember not only bidding these characters farewell, but the original journey they took with Ash, had this exact reaction when we saw these two in the anime after so very long. In terms of Pokémon logic, it might as well have been 3,000 years.
