Shiny Pokemon are incredibly rare throughout the Pokemon video games, and your chance of encountering one in the wild is usually over one in 4,000. However, there are a few ways you can increase your chances of finding a shiny Pokemon, and the Shiny Charm can make shiny Pokemon more common.

The Shiny Charm is a key item that you receive for completing the National Pokedex in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. This item has been in the Pokemon franchise for generations; however, it works differently than in previous games.

The Shiny Charm usually increases your chance of encountering a shiny Pokemon, regardless of how you encounter or obtain the Pokemon. However, the Shiny Charm in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl is different because it only increases the chance of receiving a shiny Pokemon when you hatch an egg, but not when you encounter a wild Pokemon. The base chance of hatching a shiny Pokemon is one in 4,096; however, the Shiny Charm increases the chance of hatching a Shiny variant of a Pokemon to one in 1,365.
