Shiny Pokemon are valued highly among those who hunt them, primarily for their rarity. It's no secret that not all shinies are created equally, with some being utter let-downs. Good shinies, however, are the true peak of the shiny-hunting world, as not only do you get a rare Pokemon, you also get one that looks awesome.

Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are no exception to this, and since they feature the biggest variety of ways to shiny hunt in a Switch game so far, they're the perfect games for you to pick a cool-looking shiny to go after. Here are the best shinies you can obtain using the Pokeradar.

10 Wobbuffet - A Garish Pink That Somehow Works

pokemon shiny wobbuffet

Pokemon has no shortage of pink shinies. It's one of the most common colours, and in many cases, it doesn't look great. For Wobbuffet, though, it feels oddly fitting. It's such a bizarre and outlandish concept for a Pokemon that the vibrant colour just seems right.

If you want to catch a shiny Wobbuffet of your own, it can be found at any of Sinnoh's lakes - Lake Verity, Lake Acuity, and Lake Valor are all home to the weird, but lovable, punching bag Pokemon.

9 Miltank - A Cool Bovine Blue

Encountering a Shiny Miltank in Pokemon Sword Pokemon Shield

Just as blue Pokemon with pink shinies are a common occurrence, so too do pink Pokemon frequently end up with blue shinies. This is true for Miltank, and while it's not the most out-there of colour schemes, it looks good on the cow. It's just a shame Miltank's counterpart, Tauros, has such an underwhelming shiny.

Routes 209 and 210 are where Miltank can be encountered with the Pokeradar, so head in their direction if you're looking for a nice blue cow of your own.

8 Baltoy - A More Subtle Colour Change

Sometimes the subtler shinies are just as good, if not better than, the full palette swaps. Baltoy's evolution Claydol's shiny looks largely the same as its regular form, except its red eyes change to a yellow colour. It's a small change, but a very effective one.

Route 206 is where you can nab a shiny Baltoy, though to be honest the unevolved Pokemon's shiny isn't quite as cool as its evolution's, so this is a hunt that will really only pay off once you get it evolved.

7 Aron - A Great Line Of Shinies That Make (Somewhat) Perfect Sense

pokemon shiny aggron line

Aron and its line are composed largely of metal, so it's a fantastic coincidence that back in the days of algorithm-generated shinies, they ended up with colour-swaps that resemble rust. Granted, the greenish hue is more akin to oxidised copper than whatever greyish-silver metal the Pokemon are composed of, but it looks cool nonetheless. Furthermore, Aron in particular highlights the cool red eyes the shinies get.

If you want to catch and evolve a rusty metal critter for yourself, the Fuego Ironworks are the place to be. Unfortunately, however, Aron is a Brilliant Diamond exclusive, so if you're playing Shining Pearl, this one's not for you.

6 Smeargle - Another Great Subtle Change

pokemon shiny smeargle

The overall fur on Smeargle's shiny does undergo a very slight colour change in comparison to its regular form, but what makes the shiny so great is the colour of the paint on its tail changing from green to red. It's minor differences that feel so fitting like these that make shinies like Smeargle's stand out.

Smeargle can be hunted with the Pokeradar on Route 212. Its ability to learn any move means it can get both Spore and False Swipe, so it's a popular choice to use for catching shinies itself - why not get a shiny to hunt shinies with?

5 Trapinch and Vibrava - Pokemon With An Outstanding Shiny Evolution

pokemon shiny flygon

Flygon is an awesome Pokemon. It has an excellent typing, looks cool, and has some nice stats to boot. To top it all off, its shiny is fantastic, so why wouldn't you want to get your hands on a great Pokemon's great shiny? Flygon itself isn't huntable in BDSP, but both of its pre-evolutions, Trapinch and Vibrava, are.

Both Trapinch and Vibrava can be encountered with the Pokeradar on Route 228, so head over there, catch a shiny, and get it leveled up to evolve your amazing shiny Flygon.

4 Swablu - A Regal Gold That Fits Such An Elegant Bird

pokemon shiny altaria

The floaty cloud vibe that Swablu and Altaria have definitely evokes an idea of elegance. What better colour would there be for such a graceful Pokemon than a nice regal gold? Well, that's exactly the colour this line's shinies have, and given that they're pretty cool Pokemon to begin with, it's definitely a shiny worth going after.

If you like the sound of this and want a shiny Swablu of your own, Route 211 is the place to be. Like many others, it can also be hunted in the Grand Underground, but you can't use the Pokeradar down there, so it'd likely take a lot longer.

3 Mareep - The Fabled Pink Sheep

pokemon shiny mareep

If you've ever played Minecraft, you might have heard of the ultra-rare pink sheep, switching out its usual white for a cute pink candyfloss look. That's exactly what Mareep's shiny does, and it makes this adorable little electric sheep look even better.

Mareep's shiny (like all shinies) is even rarer than Minecraft's pink sheep, but if you want to take on the challenge of finding one yourself, make your way to the Valley Windworks. Flaaffy can be encountered on Route 222, if you'd rather have the evolution.

2 Ralts - A Matching Blue Family

pokemon shiny gardevoir and gallade

Ralts' shiny is a nice pale blue, as are the shinies for the rest of the line introduced in Gen 3. A few years later, there was a new member of the Ralts family brought in with Gen 4 - Gallade. It was a darker green than that of the existing line, but incredibly, its algorithm-generated shiny turned out to be a darker blue - incredibly fitting!

Shiny Gardevoir and Gallade look fantastic together, and since you can catch multiple shinies in a single chain, there's no reason not to go for the full family. Ralts can be encountered on Routes 203 and 204, where you can also find Kirlia.

1 Ditto - An Iconic Shiny That's Uncharacteristically Easy To Get

Shiny Ditto standing next to a normal Ditto in the Pokemon anime.

Assuming you don't want to hunt at full-odds random encounters, Ditto has actually been a historically difficult shiny to get your hands on, due to the fact you can't breed it for the Masuda method. Most recently, you could chain it in Let's Go, but it was one of the hardest Pokemon to do that with.

But now, in BDSP, Ditto can be Pokeradar chained on Route 218! It's an amazing shiny, made instantly recognisable by its role in the anime, so you have no excuse not to take this fantastic chance to get one.
