With such a huge franchise like Pokemon that has had over 20 years to stock up on its roster of loved games, sometimes the old titles get left behind. When you have such huge hits in the database, it's only time before the fans begin the remake chant.

While we all love the nostalgic feeling of playing with 90's graphics and basic controls, the new age of consoles opens the door to so many interesting mechanics that haven't been explored. Better visuals and more options to play with means the amount of content skyrockets. Leaving us with the old games we love in a bigger and better format.

10 Pokémon Colosseum (2003)

The game that branched out from the standard formula Pokemon had been following since it's genesis. Colisseum gives the player some more RPG elements to play with, navigating through the land of Orre and curing Pokemon of their darkened hearts.

Instead of catching wild Pokemon like other games, in Colosseum you'll have to steal the inflicted Pokemon from other trainers. While you use the Pokemon in the darkened form they will only have one attack, luckily they return to normal after frequent use.

9 Pokemon Yellow (1998)

This is the game that began it all - with all the nostalgia of the older generation with an added Pikachu for good measure! For fans of the TV show, this is the closest to relieving the popular cartoon as you're going to get. In fact, you get Pikachu off the jump instead of marching through the hordes of Caterpie to catch one!

Pokemon: Let's Go Pikachu & Eevee are remakes of Yellow but while well-received, the inclusion of new mechanics takes away from the nostalgic vibe. Dragging it back to the old school is the best way to do it and introduce the new fans to the Pokemon roots.

8 Pokémon Snap (1999)

Following in the well walked path of its predecessor's, instead of catching the Pokemon with balls you'll have to score the perfect shot to get credit. Being led through a series of different environments, it's all about timing as you try and find the perfect pose.

Some execute special moves or actions that will multiply your score and up your game. The upgrade of graphics and the huge amount of new Pokemon to add gives a whole new mass of content to add. New settings that have been introduced in the main game would make a perfect addition to Snap.

7 Pokémon Crystal (2000)

Crystal was the second generation and the combination of the most Pokemon at that point. With the main legendary being Suicune, you also get the 2 legendary bird Pokemon to choose from. All in all, you have an 80% percent legendary roster backing you up if you put in the time.

The introduction of the gaming casino was brought into the series in this generation, adding an entertaining side project while offering big moves like Hyper Beam or Earthquake in return. Combine that with the mating of original Pokemon and you have one of the most effective move/Pokemon dynamic to date.

6 Pokémon Pinball (1999)

Pinball in itself is already a binge player's dream. Simple yet engaging, it holds your attention and entertains players for hours on end. This is only exacerbated when you add in the overhauled style and play mechanics of Pokemon Pinball.

Offering a large variety of different tables or locations to choose from, catching all original 151 Pokemon is sure to suck players in. With unique stages that allow you to catch or evolve Pokemon, this game follows more involved gameplay than the original.

5 Pokémon Conquest (2012)

In almost all of the Pokemon games, you play a hopeful youth that wants to be a master trainer. Pokemon Conquest takes players down a more mature route. Becoming a warlord initially of one of the 17 kingdoms of Ransei, you have to end the constant battling and bring peace to the region.

Instead of the typical battles everyone is used to, this is a turn-based strategy game. Requiring movement as well as combat, each Pokemon in your roster only gets one move. Instead of leveling up, the power depends on how strong your connection is and what criteria are met.

4 Pokémon Stadium (1998)

Depending on what you like about the Pokemon games, Stadium is either a hit or miss. If the battle of the game is a big part of the fun, it became one of the best games out there. If you want to obtain the 4 cups, then it will end up totaling 80 battles of 3 on 3 madness.

Instead of a story mode, the game allows you to import Pokemon from your Yellow, Red, or Blue versions of the main game. The development of online would add a massive component to another Pokemon Stadium, along with the 100's of new additions to the roster. Each cup a new set of restrictions and rules that limit your choices.

3 Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers Of The Sky (2009)

Instead of catching Pokemon to use, players will have the unique experience of actually being one. Taking the pressure off from having to manage a team of them, now you can run around and explore dungeons trainer free.

The expansion of plot and content from the other Pokemon Mystery Dungeons is what makes Sky Explorers the game to remake. The Nintendo Switch has the perfect platform for this, with generations of Pokemon released since and no nostalgia burden weighing them down, its the perfect game to throw new mechanics in.

2 Pokémon Ranger (2006)

Instead of trying to catch em' all, Pokemon Ranger makes you catch the right Pokemon for a certain temporary job. Also, this won't be your typical throw and catch style. Players have to loop the Pokemon with the stylus in hopes it doesn't flee or attack.

The different Pokemon you catch along the way will aid you in both the catching of other Pokemon and solving puzzles along the way. Unlike previous regions, there are no trainers and people keep there Pokemon as pets instead of training them, this means no Pokeballs.

1 Pokémon XD: Gale Of Darkness (2005)

As a sequel to Colosseum, Pokemon XD: Gale Of Darkness is a much-needed addition. This time instead of having to walk around with your shadow Pokemon to turn them, you can use the purification chamber. While giving you less XP, it becomes a much more efficient method that will let you purify multiple Pokemon at the same time.

It even has wild Pokemon that instead of jaunting through areas of tall grass for, you can lure with snacks and trade for rare Pokemon. While the Gamecube was great at the time, the land of Orre just didn't get it just deserves. A current gaming system is much more equipped to let players dive into the world with more content.
