It's difficult to choose the cutest Ghost-type Pokémon, partially because many of them are designed to look sinister. But many of those that actually look cute are actually horrifying if you research them a little bit more. Many Ghost-type Pokémon look fun, but the Pokédex states that they like to either murder children, lure travelers to their deaths, or consume souls.

To decide which Ghost-types are the cutest, these gruesome details need to be ignored, or at least placed in the back of your mind. Try to appreciate how cuddly that Shuppet is without thinking about how it feeds on dark emotions like vengefulness and malice.

10 Dreepy

Sometimes it's hard to decide if a Pokémon is cute or weird. Dreepy is a Pokémon that definitely straddles that line. The Ghost/Dragon-type, introduced in Generation VIII, is the base stage of the pseudo-legendary Dragapult line. This small dragon has very weird eyes, which can either be cute or ugly, depending on your opinion.

Part of what makes Dreepy cute is that it likes to be launched out of Dragapult's "cannons" at very high speeds. Why it likes to do this is not clear, but it's funny and cute.

9 Pumpkaboo

Pumpkaboo is a pretty cute Grass/Ghost-type introduced in Generation VI. Its evolution, Gourgeist, is very clearly based on a jack-o'-lantern. The inspiration is not as obvious with Pumpkaboo, but it's still clear that it is inspired by Halloween. It's a pumpkin, just like its evolution, with some bat-like motifs, giving it a spooky and fun vibe.

Pumpkaboo comes in four sizes, small, average, large, and super-sized. The smallest ones are probably the cutest, but this Pokémon is all-around a great design with some very endearing qualities.

8 Golett

The smaller versions of large, intimidating, scary things, are always cute. Just look at a Pokémon like Totodile, which is like a mini-alligator and is very, very adorable. Another example of this comes in the form of Golett, a Ghost/Ground-type introduced in Generation V.

Golett and its evolution are based on sentries or golems, or a combination of the two. Golurk, its evolution, is a large, intimidating robot that looks like it could crush you with one hand. The mini-version, Golett, on the other hand, is downright adorable.

7 Litwick

This entry is yet another Ghost-type that's pretty cute but has a horrifying series of Pokédex entries attached to it. Litwick, a Ghost/Fire-type introduced in Generation V, is clearly very cute. It's a small candle with a tiny purple flame.

However, dig a little deeper and you'll want to stay as far away from Litwick as you can. It uses its flame to attract people so it can slowly drain their life force. It's cute, but maybe stick to admiring it from a good distance, and be sure to look away quickly.

6 Phantump

Like many other entries on this list, looking at Phantump would make you initially believe it's a very cute Pokémon. And sure, its appearance is very cute. It's a small whispy ghost with a tree stump for a face. The little hands and tuft of ghostly "hair" on its head are endearing and loveable.

While you're admiring it, though, keep in mind that it's said Phantump are the spirits of dead children who were lost in the forest. Their spirits inhabit rotting tree stumps, and Phantump is created. Cute!

5 Sinistea

If you thought Chip from Beauty and the Beast was cute, then Sinistea should appeal to you. This Ghost-type, introduced in Generation VIII, is very similar to the little chipped teacup from the classic Disney film.

However, Chip is the teacup, while Sinistea is not. Sinistea is actually the small purple ghost that inhabits a teacup. But, it's very cute, as it seems to change the face on the cup. It remains cute, too, unlike many other Ghost-types. Polteageist, its evolution, is a bit more rowdy, but still cute nonetheless.

4 Shuppet

It's said that Shuppets will line up under the eaves of a person's home when their heart is full of vengeance and hatred. That means if you are lucky enough to have this cuddly puppet-like Ghost-type hanging around, you need to let some things go.

Ignoring that dark lore, Shuppet is very cute. Its big eyes and curiosity make it endearing, and it's always seen doing a little swinging dance. It's a very cute Pokémon, and the Banette that it'll evolve into removes that right away, being a horrifying abomination.

3 Drifloon

Drifloon from the Pokemon anime

What's cuter than a little balloon with hearts at the end of its strings? Let's ignore the creepy red balloons from Stephen King's It and think about their innocence and association with childhood. They're adorable, and as a result, so is Drifloon.

Unfortunately, it must be said again that these balloons will have to be loved by adults, not children. This is because Drifloon likes to carry children off to, presumably, their deaths. The Pokédex specifies in many instances that Drifloon has a habit of carrying children off, but it doesn't like heavy targets. So, if you're an adult of at least average size, you're probably safe.

2 Mimikyu

Let's be clear: Mimikyu is not cute, but its disguise and personality are. The disguise is meant to look like Pikachu. This is because Pikachu is clearly widely-beloved, while Mimikyu is not. Mimikyu will don the costume, hoping to resemble Pikachu so people will love it.

Mimikyu itself, on the other hand, is not as cute. It's a horrifying creature that's so terrifying in appearance that it's said you'll die if you happen to look at it. Keep the cosplay going, Mimikyu, because who knows what type of horrors you'd unleash on the world if you try to be cute without it?

1 Marshadow

Mythical Pokémon are usually very cute. Just look at Shaymin, Victini, Mew, and Celebi. Some, like Darkrai, are maybe not so much. But, a lot of them definitely are, and Marshadow is not an exception. This Ghost/Fighting-type was introduced in Generation VII and starred in the movie Pokémon — I Choose You! as a guide for those who possess a Rainbow Wing.

This little spirit lives in shadows and can cause trouble or nice things to happen. It's very adorable, and its fierceness in battle is endearing. It's definitely the cutest Ghost-type and might be one of the most adorable Fighting-types, too.
