The newest Pokémon to become a Funko Pop figurine is Squirtle, and some fans are feeling uncomfortable about its lifeless eyes.

Funko Pops are best known for their figurine range, which includes a wide and ever-increasing variety of pop culture characters. They have just announced the launch of a Pokémon Squirtle Pop! This new addition brings the Pokémon figure collection up to a total of four. While this is great news for fans of the lovable water-type, the Squirtle figure includes slightly unnerving cold, dead eyes that look like they're staring into your very soul.

The solid black eyes are a staple of Pop figures, which have a very distinctive appearance. On the other Pokémon figures, they look fine. All three previous Pokémon look both accurate and cute and many collectors are no doubt happy to have the figures on their shelves. However, Squirtle is another matter.

Currently, the Funko Pop Pokémon line-up includes Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Pikachu. Adding Squirtle means that you will soon be able to buy all of the starter Pokémon from Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow - just don't stare at Squirtle for too long.

We're not sure if it’s just the blank expression, but somehow Squirtle's eyes make it look terrifying. We’ll have to wait until the official release to see for sure, but if this image is any indicator, then the water-type Pokémon going to look slightly ominous sitting on your shelve.

Pokémon are fantastic candidates for Pop figures. Their cartoon appearance, distinctive features, and bright colors make them ideal for adaptation. The most surprising thing about the Pokémon collection is that it took so long for them to be transformed into Pops and there are so few of them available.

It appears that Funko Pops are concentrating on earlier, classic Pokémon first, slowly building up the collection of starters before it hopefully expands. There are so many Pokémon to adapt into figures. We just need to hope that any further releases look more like Pikachu and less like Squirtle.

There is no current release date for the Squirtle Funk Pop, which is listed as "coming soon" on the website. The other three Pokémon are all currently available.
