Pokémon Sword & Shield are the latest generation of Pokémon games and with them, there is a new batch of pokémon ranging from the lovable to the hideous.

Though there are hundreds of creatures, it tends to be that the adorable base forms and the often intimidating, cool, or cute final evolutions are the only ones that are ever remembered fondly. The middle forms are often the awkward teenage phase most people like to forget. Let's take a look at and rank the 10 best final evolutions in Pokémon Sword & Shield.

10 Galarian Rapidash

There's no question that the Galarian form of Ponyta is one of the best pokémon designs in existence. That being said, the evolved form of Galarian Ponyta also received some region variant love and sports a colorful design that's also pretty neat.

The addition of the unicorn horn and cotton candy-colored locks of hair make it feel as majestic as it should be. There's no doubt that both Galarian Ponyta and Rapidash will become some of the best-selling plushies in the years to come.

9 Grimmsnarl

Everyone who doesn't love pugs is confused about why anyone would. The truth is that they cross the line to where they're so ugly that they become cute. Grimmsnarl and its previous evolutions are kind of like the pugs of the Galar region in many ways.

The forest-dwelling creatures called Impidimps eventually evolve into these bipedal human-like monsters named Grimmsnarl that look pretty intimidating. It also happens to have a Gigantamax form that makes Grimmsnarl look like an anime villain.

8 Avalugg

Avalugg is a pokémon you likely won't be spending much time with unfortunately, as it can't be found until much later in the game, but that doesn't mean the glacier turtle isn't worth your time.

Its body isn't one giant slab of ice, but rather it's broken up sections that are reminiscent of what you'd see a glacier do when it's out in the ocean. It may not be the best choice for battling, but part of the appeal of catching pokémon is finding the cool ones, and Avalugg is certainly one of the cooler ones in the Galar region.

7 Coalossal

Coalossal is one of the more prominently divisive designs in the Galar region, but those who love the fire and coal Godzilla would do anything for it. The Gigantamax form of this ancient-looking creature makes it ferocious and it will give fans of the Disney film Hercules the same vibes as the fire titan from that film whose name was Lythos.

Thankfully the designers were smart enough to not make it simply a fire-type pokémon, but gave it the secondary typing of rock so it could be more versatile in battle.

6 Cursola

If you're unfamiliar with Cursola but the name sounds familiar, that's because it should. Cursola is the final evolution of the Galarian form of the Coral Pokémon named Corsola that was introduced back in the second generation of games titled Pokémon Gold & Silver.

It's always great to see older pokémon get the evolutionary love they deserve. With Cursola, it may not be the prettiest creature around, but a giant coral ghost-type pokémon is a pretty cool thing in its own right, right?

5 Toxtricity

Players who begin their journey through the Galar region will eventually run into a random person who will give them a new pokémon named Toxel. This adorable baby purple dinosaur evolves into an electric and poison dual-typed rockstar of a pokémon that is definitely worth your time and investment.

Toxtricity is the final evolution of Toxel and comes in one of two forms depending on its nature. It also happens to be the lead guitarist for the band that celebrates you completing the game.

4 Corviknight

On top of being one of the first Galar region's native pokémon revealed for the new games, Corviknight also happens to be a huge part of Galar's taxi system that helps the player fast travel around the region. Corviknight seemingly does the impossible as it falls into the well-treaded territory of a flying/steel dual-type bird pokémon but still manages to be cool.

Every generation has an early game bird pokémon that evolves twice, but thankfully Corviknight is worth the early game investment simply for its Gigantamax form.

3 Perrserker

At first glance, Perrserker may look like a variant form of Meowth for the uninitiated, but that's not the case. It happens to be the evolution to the Galarian Meowth which also sports a hefty beard but is mostly the greyish white color that's only reserved to Perrserker's beard.

Outside of giving off a lot of troll and demon vibes, the steel-type rabid creature is considered the Viking Pokémon, which means you shouldn't let your guard down. Its ferocious nature makes it perfect for stealing, destroying and pillaging.

2 Dragapult

In many ways, Daragapult is the Sharpedo of this generation. Like Sharpedo, Dragapult's design is a combination of a real-world item and one of the coolest creatures known to man. Sharpedo is a mix of a shark and a torpedo, whereas Dragapult manages to mash together a dragon and a fighter jet.

The overall structure and color palette of Dragapult's design is well done and makes it even cooler. The last bonus is that it happens to be a rare dual-typing of dragon and ghost which is pretty neat.

1 Drednaw

Drednaw isn't only one of the cooler designs in the entire Galar region, but his base form named Chewtle is a pokémon you run into early in the game. This means that trainers can work towards obtaining a Drednaw early on and built a strong relationship with one another from the get-go.

Drednaw's dual-typing of water and rock makes it a lot more useful than the numerous water-only types. It also happens to have a cool Gigantamax form, so it's worth building up its Dynamax bars via the candy you get in raids.
