Pokemon Go is constantly updating and evolving; most recently seen in their new Mega Evolution and Mega Raid updates. In addition to the changes provided with this update, Pokemon Go will be celebrating its commencement with a limited-time event: A Mega Moment.

Centering around Mega Evolutions and Raids, this event will offer Trainers several bonuses and rewards relating to this. Taking place from Friday, April 29 10 am to Sunday, May 1, 8:00 pm local time, make sure to log in during the time of this event to take advantage of these benefits, and better prepare yourself for the game's latest update.

Pokemon Go: A Mega Moment - Special Research Story

There will be a new Special Research story available to all Trainers level five or above during the event window. This Special Research story will possess branching tasks, requiring you to choose the Venusaur, Charizard, or Blastoise option. Your choice here will determine which Pokemon you will receive Mega Energy for, rewarded through the completion of various tasks. All tasks and rewards for this Special Research story are provided below.

  • One Charged TM
  • 1,000 XP and 600 Stardust

Step Four

  • Win a raid
  • Defeat a Team GO Rocket Grunt
  • Take a snapshot of your buddy

  • 100 Mega Energy and a Wild Encounter with the Pokemon you chose (Venusaur, Charizard, or Blastoise)
  • Six Revives and Hyper Potions
  • Two Silver Pinap Berries
  • 2,000 XP and 1,500 Stardust

During the event window, Pokemon that possess Mega Evolutions will be seen more frequently in the wild. The following Pokemon will have increased spawn rates during this event.

Pokemon Go: A Mega Moment - Mega Kangaskhan Raid Day

Mega Kangaskhan from Pokemon Go

Taking place on Sunday, May 1, from 11 am to 2 pm local time, this will mark the debut of Mega Kangaskhan in Pokemon Go. To celebrate this, during this time Trainers can benefit from the following bonuses.

  • Mega Kangaskhan will be appearing more frequently in Mega Raids
  • Increased chances of encountering a Shiny Kangaskhan
  • Receive up to five free Raid Passes from spinning Photo Discs at Gyms (up to two hours after the end of the event)

Make sure to log in and take advantage of these Raid-related bonuses and the debut of Mega Kangaskhan in Pokemon Go.

Pokemon Go: A Mega Moment - Additional Event Bonuses

Mega Raids from Pokemon Go

There are additional bonuses available during the A Mega Moment event. These bonuses are also related to the new Mega Evolutions update and are provided below.

  • Event-themed Field Research tasks will be available during the event window; rewarding Trainers with Mega Energy for any Pokemon that is currently able to Mega Evolve in Pokemon Go
  • All Mega-Evolved Pokemon will receive a CP boost
