Pokemon Go has been slowly adding new generations of Pokemon ever since it first launched in 2016. That means that, every once in a while, we get treated with brand new Legendary Pokemon, region-specific forms, and more!
The Legendary Pokemon Cosmog is one of the most recent to appear in the game! Officially known as the 'Nebula Pokemon,' Cosmog may seem small and cute, but it can evolve into a fearsome creature. Better learn to catch and raise it! We've got all the details here.
Updated on March 13, 2023, by Gabrielle Huston: Pokemon Go is a collect-athon, plain and simple; you're aiming to collect as many Pokemon as you can! You train your favorites, powering them up and giving them new moves, just to battle big bosses and collect them, too. Well, Niantic recently added a new Pokemon to collect: Cosmog! At first, you couldn't evolve this little guy into its more powerful forms, but that's all changed now.
How To Get Cosmog
Cosmog was added to Pokemon Go with the Season of Light event and that Battle League season, starting September 1, 2022. To catch this Legendary Pokemon, you'll need to complete Special Research that was also launched at the start of the Season of Light, called 'A Cosmic Companion.'
Encountering Cosmog is the reward for completing the very first part of the Research, and the tasks are all fairly simple to do, so you shouldn't have too much trouble.
How To Evolve Cosmog
Cosmog first appeared in Pokemon Sun and Moon. It evolves into Cosmoem, then into Solgaleo (if you are playing Pokemon Sun) or into Lunala (if you are playing Pokemon Moon).
While there do seem to be models for Solgaleo and Lunala in Pokemon Go, you can evolve Cosmog by completing the A Cosmic Companion tasks. It provides you with the Candy as you go. Evolving Cosmog into Cosmoem is a task in the 5th part, and then evolving Cosmoem into Solgaleo or Lunala is a task in the 9th part.
No need to take the choice between Solgaleo and Lunala too seriously! They're almost identical in terms of combat performance. The major difference is that Lunala gets better attacks, while Solgaleo has more immunities.
